Its not billions most of it goes on track maintenance and staff wages. looks like they run on a 2% profit margin so very little for say big rises for the staff and imporvements to services. https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/business-46398947 Infact I'd expect those numbers to be lower post-covid now everyone works from home.
  2. The standard of refereeing has been shocking but just seen them. I'd say one is pen and one is maybe a soft pen. Its also not a great conspiracy as Luton still have Everton to play at home so probably had the better chance of catching them before today.
  3. Official forest twitter account suggesting they may take action over VAR being corrupt?

According to the link you posted we will hit net zero in 2051 based on current investment levels. Even the Tory target of 2035 needs an extra £104.6bn

That link seems to suggest the money would be spent on "some stuff" but that stuff wouldn't achieve net zero

It's the 16 - 24 year old group both parties are worried about. I think I read it was 2% unable to work in 1998 due to anxiety & mental health, its now in the teens 13% - 14%. Apparently the numbers started to shoot up around 2010 coincidentally the year instagram started.

Reform on 18 per cent in the red wall now. I wonder if they can overtake the Tories before the election?

Then the cost of looking after people with alzheimers will go throught the roof 😆 Seriously though all these measures don't address the elephant in the room which is the increasing costs of pensions and healthcare for an aging population.

Yes whilst the young that dominate the internet space probably prioritize the socially liberal stuff over the left wing economic stuff. They'd probably call the post war labour types of the 1950's far right or gammons.
  11. Everton appealing their 2 point deduction. Also Chelsea may of got around their potential deduction by selling the two hotels attached to Stamford bridge to another company Boehly owns

Suggestions the Tories might do a Labour and make it more difficult for members to elect the leader. Might be centrists for all going forward.

Easy to forget Murdoch backed Trumps opponents in the 2016 republican primaries and even tried to set up the debate on his channel to take Trump out. He only fell behind him when it was clear he was going to win. I think certain media outlets are very good at front running public opinon and then claiming to be the voice of the people but terrible at actually influencing it.

If Boris was female and working class would she/he still be PM?

Don't see it as much of a loss personally. As you said she's at odds with Reeves on economic matters. It could easily be like Corbyn & Tom Watson where the deputy disagrees with the leader but he can't get rid due to being elected by the party.

Its never going to be fixed then as the pre-financial crisis period regarding tax revenue generated by the financial sector was as probably as good as its going to get. That hasn't been repalced by anything. But ok we will go with your argument, its ok for everyone to practice tax avoidance / evasion to pay for private sector solutions until each of us deem the public sector ones meet our needs fully.

Didn't these thigns happen under a labour government. Pretty sure Dianne Abbott sent her kid to school in 2003? Education Education Education.

Plus labour are the people who are actually supposed to believe in this stuff. You can't argue the state is the solution but at the same time demonstrate the state is too sh*t for your own needs. These are two politicians who are "supposed" to be from the left of the party.
  19. This is apparently why the league wants to give Everton a 3rd points deduction. If true they could be f**ked.

One of my friends organises the local gay pride and I've helped out on and off for about 20 odd years. Purely anecdotal but its that groups of kids who would of been say the Emo's in the 2000's or goths in the 1990's that seem to now be turning up as well. Your socially awkward / autistic males. The type who would of struggled to get laid even in the 90's but now in the age of dating apps are probably not getting any attention as girls have alot more choice. I do worry about these young people whos sexual development is happening in the virtual word not the real world they appear to have alot more erm kinks and fetishes than my generation. I wouldn't be suprised if its linked to the rise in mental health issues too.

Yeah its all bollocks but if anyone told the truth they wouldn't get elected. Great thread here on twitter from one of the Tories I hadn't heard of regarding OBR forcasts:
  22. Best bit of the ruling was the invasion of Ukraine can't be a mitigating factor as Everton should of been aware it might happen after the salisbury poisoning
  23. Watching onana, he doesn't seem to have a conventional style. Alot of the time he palms the ball back into play rather than to the sides resulting in another chance.

Plus the specific shift in jobs/unemployment mainly due to the move from industrial/manufacturing to service sector economy has spanned many different governments. It started with the 1976 IMF bailout where a stipulation was given that the UK shrink its industrial base. Onto Thatchers war with the unions, then India and China joining the WTO in the mid-90's, then the Eastern European countries joining the EU and finally the drive net zero. Speaking of which reform are apparently going to offer a referendum on net zero. May go down well in the red wall?

The 90's were pretty cool though. Culminating in 1999 when all the big films, fight club, office space, The matrix, American Beauty all effectivley having the same theme. When life is so stable it becomes boring, you go mad and do something to sabotage it.
