The starting point is noticeably different though.

Indeed, it’s not exactly a ringing endorsement of the UK’s handling of this stage of the pandemic.Ā

Cases are doubling at the moment with masks. Ā Its such an empty view point.

Maybe because as you have saidĀ lots of people aren’t wearing them … so yeah that would make them pretty ineffective … or people not wearing them correctly ? Perhaps the govt should have given clear adviceĀ

Are nightclubs normally busy during August?Ā  I guess they may well be this summer though!

The clubbing industry was really struggling pre covid for a number of years - but with very few festivals on this year and after such a long time being closed, I would expect that within the younger generation they are going to see a huge surge in business.

On a personal level I'm looking forward to getting to one, but i won't be going until I've had at least mu second jab. They are petri dishes at the best of times, let alone now.

Surprised the spacing between doses still is 8 weeks, talk of it coming down to 4 didn't materialise due to stocks, so why not 5/6/7 weeks? no great urgency in the roll out anymore

Wife reaches 8 weeks exactly today. Text through, no jab available until 31 july šŸ™„ walk in centre tomorrow it is

Noticing a few cancellations coming in for next week. Not massive numbers but enough that it's noticeable. Would guess the lack of clarity isn't helping and some people not feeling as confident to come away as they were. With the weather forecast looking so good it's unusual to see the number of cancellations otherwise

"Freedom Day" is starting to look very much like the last 15 months - fucking shite

What exactly are you moaning about?

We are moving ahead with most if not all restrictions lifted, still with huge case numbers. Which specific elements of 'freedom day' aren't up to you loft standards?Ā

They haven't got the vaccine levels we have. Ā You are not comparing like for like.

Not a massive difference in my opinion based on the figures below.Ā  You may disagree.Ā Ā

Partly vaccinated: Netherlands = 26%, UK = 16%

Fully vaccinated:Ā Netherlands = 39%, UK = 51%

Total: Netherlands = 65%, UK = 67%

    • 90,000 on a single for day or over the weekend? Ā  if it was for the whole weekend that’s disastrous Ā  Given camping didn’t sell out unless they in effect transferred a lot of camping captivity to Chappell Roan day tickets 90,000 is absolute capacity there I think, so it would be hard to believe Ā  i think it’s from the year before but the TPD tv footage when the killers are headlining makes it look like it’s at best half full
    • A part of me thinks weirdly they might hold off on Chaka/Robbie until they have a year where nobody else who fits the bill is available. This slot takes a very specific set of criteria, and I can't imagine they're flushed with options who are on tour and would take the smaller payday every year. Both Chaka and Robbie have expressed interest in doing it, so they're bankers for a year where fewer options are available. Which may well be 2027.
    • Chaka and Robbie got to have decent chances due to previous reports
    • Chaka is a west holts act all day long and yes please (as part of my vaguely purple day that I am still trying to make happen). Ā  Teatime? Bryan Adams.Ā
