Travel, Events and Hospitality in Germany hopefully from end of June onwards:

Restaurant visits and summer vacations should be possible in Germany from the end of June. This is what the German government's tourism commissioner, Thomas Bareiss, said in an interview with "Die Zeit". Bareiss calculates that 77 million vaccine doses should have been administered by this point in time - enough for around 35 million people to have complete vaccination protection. "I believe that vacation and hopefully soon events, congresses and trade fairs that are so important for Germany as a business location will be possible again," says Bareiss.

In the end Chris Whitty thinks it will come down to a debate on how much death people will accept to get their freedoms back.

I know which way I go on that debate.  My 85 year old gran agreed as well.

The argument seems to be that freedom is worth 7,000-20,000 deaths but not worth 125,000 deaths. The exact number where the equilibrium tips is unknown. Political decision.

I've just made my first social plan since early December: meeting a friend in a park for some tins next weekend. Really looking forward to it.

Looking at the rules, I'm not sure if this is within the definition of "staying local" as that is pretty damn vague. I have to get a train to see anyone I know, so I suspect not, but am going to go for it anyway!

From what I've read there is no legal rule against travelling anywhere within England yet (But you can't stay overnight or even enter someone's house other than to wee or walk through to the garden)

Staying local is purely guidance, but no legal reason why you couldn't get a train up to Manchester to sit in a mate's garden for a few hours

Of course, the train bit is way more dangerous than the sitting in the garden.

It's even more interesting when you actually live and travel anywhere in a motorhome and the police try and tell you to stay at home 😆

what if it goes negative?!

Funnily enough I was looking at the guardians covid figures, and with the way they’ve formatted the graph it looked like there was negative deaths yesterday.

I said earlier I am not sure exactly what the aim of the test was.

Was it the logistics of mass testing ?  Was it to test if mass testing works ? Was it to test if masks work ?  And how much will it all matter in a population who have largely been vaccinated.

The only thing is could test is the combination of masks and mass testing in a largely unvaccinated population.  Three things no one with a right might should want for our future.

Personally I think it looked like a really shit night out as well.  2-3 hours "partying" in masks.  What a shit future it represents.

The band looked pretty awful as well.

I know people who went last night and they had a great time.

What it means is that with a successful trial, 5,000 person no social distancing concerts and events (and presumably the next test will be with way more, perhaps 20,000) can take place now.

It's not about the future, it's about fixing things as best as possible for the here and now.

Not really because some people have to see others indoors such as carers plus you have support bubbles and childcare bubbles too. They are just clarifying what ideally needs to be done.

    • So we've signed a Horny Czech, and Bruno's turned up the training camp instead of doing Isak's nonsense.   Still not sure I believe Bruno's staying mind, but glad he's not doing the sh*t Arsenal are asking him to do to lower the price. If they want him they can stump up.   My suspicion is that whichever of Madrid/Man City don't start next season with Rodri will go for Bruno, and one of them will come in while Arsenal have f**ked about trying to get him cheap, which while I absolutely want to keep him, would still be good enough bants and a nice middle finger that I wouldn't mind it so much. I just wish we'd report Arsenal for tapping up.   If rumours are to be believed, we're after 2 more defensive signings, and an attacking player, on top of a replacement if Bruno leaves, having already signed a LW, 2 CMs, a GK, and some youth players. Huge churn, but apart from a couple of Bazou Toure's games for Ivory Coast at the world cup, I've not seen any of them play. Over 2 summers we've basically changed our entire team aside from the CBs.
    • I think the level of headliners Bloodstock get is varied    There's been bands who have gone on to play Download in quite a low spot like Meshuggah, Behemoth, Opeth etc.    Then they've had years like 2025 where you can argue that all three headliners are download main stage sub level    Knocked Loose right now i'd argue are 3rd down on main/opus headliner level while EC and FFDP are borderline main stage sub
