When will this shit end?

People naturally, understandably and correctly go along with restrictions while it’s clear deaths are on the rise and the NHS is at risk of being overwhelmed.

What is unclear is how people will react if deaths and hospitalisations drop off dramatically February/March time. Nobody has any idea how the general public will react when the need for restrictions is less obvious, and when they’ve been subject to them for a year already.

No doubt there has been significant modelling that we’re not privy to, but we also don’t quite know the impact vaccinations will have on transmissions, as deaths and hospitalisations drop away, will infections start to as well as a result? If so it it will be hard to justify and maintain measures for too long.

People will start household mixing once deaths and hospitalisations are down. So other restrictions are pointless IMO

Hopefully they are proven incorrect and the vaccinations numbers prove them to be over cautious

Wouldn’t call it ominous, sounds realistic and entirely what you’d expect even with the vaccine roll out going as planned.

from what I've read we've got a really bad 4-8 weeks ahead of us, but hopefully vaccinations will start to have an effect on hospitalisation numbers in February or March. But, from all accounts...next month looks bad.

I don't know what some people expect. We are told it will be a very tough winter with tough restrictions in place throughout, with the Spring earmarked as when things can start to get better but some think we'll be seeing a loosening of restrictions by February. We are in this for the winter sadly.

Good point about Sunak, although he's possibly been burnt by the Autumn and his push for people going out more. It's easier to get people out more in the warmer months anyway, I expect we won't hear a great deal from him till the Spring when we have to go out and spend all that money we've saved.

Feeling optimistic about late spring and summer though if there are no problems with the Oxford rollout (there probably will be...)

That's what I'm expecting too. I'm basically geared up for tier 4 until end of March with any reprieve a bonus.

If they are doing one dose Blair plan then in theory, can get loads more people vaccinated and protected.
