I’m another that gets quite surprised by the constant anecdotes of no one wearing masks. I moved out of London in September back to Torbay and in both places I would say 99% of people I have seen have worn them in shops and public transport. I remember more recently anyone I have seen without one (I could count this on one hand) had a lanyard on presumably to explain why they were exempt. I think compliance has been fantastic since they became compulsory and think we should focus on that rather than continue to highlight and exaggerate the tiny minority that do not wear them.

Do you work in a shop ? Do you have (mask exempt ) people leaning over you as you work ? exaggerate ? People are posting experiences of what they see ....  if that is an exaggeration are you saying that people are making this up ? It clearly differs across the U.K. .... in my retail shop I would say 40 colleagues out of around 400 are mask exempt ... if you go to another local supermarket not a single person not wearing them ... must just be unlucky to have so much ilness I guess

They’ve just clocked on that all their failings can just be covered with a ‘new variant’ get out clause haven’t they.

Just need to think of an excuse for the inevitably failing economy in the New Year now and then they're sorted.

It was the killer strain from South Africa that damaged our GDP etc.

They keep on covering up their own mistakes time and time again. Yet refuse to take the actions that will make a difference.

They literally just show a graph which showed a national lockdown led to a fall in all cases, then when it was relaxed cases went up. That right there indicates it's the government's measures that's the problem.

    • Proper special gig tonight. They won't mean much to most people, but The Dogs D'Amour were one of the most significant bands of my youth.   Tyla, yer main man of said band, was playing in Birkenhead tonight. Not many there, but it was going fine. Then he decided he didn't like the smoke and the flashing lights so suggested moving the gig to the beer garden. Off we all went, and it was magical. Like having your favourite musician play in your garden. I absolutely loved it.   Before:     After:
