Pleased that Johnson has come out and told people that it is vital to minimise all contact from today onwards if you’re forming a Christmas bubble.
With pubs/restaurants shut for a large part of the county, online shopping, schools now closed, people WFH etc there is no real need for lots of people to leave the house until 23rd essentially.

In a survey of one, my mum has just told me that she won’t be leaving the house and asked us not too either ‘just to be sure’.

This should have been the message from day 1. Bubbles should isolate for a minimum of a week before meeting and those that can’t do that should avoid mixing at all over the 5 days.

Can't agree with this January lockdown is ok idea - the biggest problem with lockdowns is the job losses and general poverty it will lead to. We shouldn't be doing anything to encourage needing more or prolonging it. Yes obviously we need one now, but christmas basically guarantees it lasting ar least 1-2 months longer and may actually overwhelm the NHS anyway so we'll have failed. The country has lost its collective minds over Christmas and everyone will suffer the consequences

I agree. In some places the NHS is already running out of beds so I worry what this Christmas relaxation will do in a month or so.

Would love to just shove this in front of all the anti-vaxers and watch them squirm. I mean, what possible comeback to this would they have? (Although I assume they would find one!)

Would love to know what caused there to be such a massive spike in smallpox deaths in that one specific year

We are having my Mum through  to ours for christmas -  on balance her mental health took priority.  Her GP has just offered to increase her anxiety pills after a recent video consultation.  He is concerned with her loneliness..

Will only be 3 of us and we all have had the bare minimum outside contact for months.

can't you do that already? People living on own can form a bubble with another household or something?

The wife of that Trump enabler is called Karen?

Unfortunate...

Indeed ... but it might mean some of the trump voters might take the vaccine ... especially if he does ... much as I’d like him to be irrelevant he can leave with a legacy should he choose too ... but will he chose not to to spite Biden

Good news for the us ...

My first thought was "haha of course he did" - and anyone they're trying to convince will think the same thing. We have no idea what they were actually injected with but I'd be amazed if it was the actual vaccine. Imagine if he'd had a reaction to it, even just feeling a bit faint which happens to some people

Doesn’t matter what he was injected with if it was anything at all. If it means more Republicans are convinced to take the vaccine then it’s better. Probably won’t do much good though as most of them don’t believe in science.

And yes that’s what the anti Vaxers will say too ... but there is a choice of several things ... take it publicly ... take it publicly and not take it ... take it with no publicity ... or don’t take it ... this would be the best option of those to persuade some I would say ...

It will probably work but behind the scenes they'd be mad to actually do it on camera - if he'd ACTUALLY had a reaction however mild it would have the opposite effect of what they're hoping. Nobody knows for 100% sure how each person will respond to any vaccine

Chances are so exceptionally low of that happening ... have we had any cases of that anywhere ? A couple of nurses had allergic reactions but carried epipens anyway ... that’s why they changed the advice on that bit ... no other data of such instances from the trials ....

I dont mean the sort of reactions that would have trials stopped, just the every day personal reactions of feeling a bit faint or something like that. Add pressure of doing it on TV and their high stress lives there are no guarantees.  That's all it'd take for people to reject it - small risk but still a risk

    • It was great, but I don't know why they continue to play Wide Lovely Eyes and Rings of Saturn, which are the weakest of the tracks off both PTSA and ST. Well, I do. It's cos they're about Suzie, so he can sing what he wants. They're the low points of the set. The rest is ace.
    • I didn't this time, but I've seen them before and just because you saw both that night doesn’t mean you can compare them. The Stones were great, but.you didn't think so and you went somewhere else looking for a good time and you found it. For whatever reason you didn't like it, but you were an outlier and all the reviews said they were great.
    • Annie Lennox could be the one to unite the whole forum, nobody has a bad word to say about her, even noted curmudgeon Skip 😄 I'd probably even amble along for a bit meself, and i'm also a miserable sod
    • If the below link works - thats interesting.   While I don't particularly put much stock in that account as a source (never seen it before though, tbf), and I can pick a hole or two (see below) in what he says - the timing of it is a week before I had the Fontaines '27 stadium info (same stadium he says on there, Tottenham). The info, or part of it, matches up.   Holes I'd pick: I'd have to watch again but I THINK he says 'end of year' for Tottenham - not possible, for a number of reasons, though he's probably just got his words mixed up there. It's Summer '27, or that's what I've been told. He also says Glastonbury is/would be based on how the album does. That doesn't stack up to me, unless it was a 2028 thing. I suppose that could stack up, i.e a verbal agreement for 2028, but still seems a bit of an odd approach. I would personally still expect it to be 2027 alongside the stadium gigs, IF they are gonna do it, though I've still not got a Scooby when the album is gonna drop, only that the tour is due for Spring (or early) next year.   Interesting, nonetheless.   https://www.instagram.com/reel/DaOB3Q9qkwW/
    • I was hoping that they would just do a tour like they were set to in 2020, rather than having Download as their UK appearance. If they are at DL, I would be surprised to see them headline. I think they sub under Deftones or SOAD
