Money laundering - mainly for Russia.

The tales of people (including family members) going into his casinos, buying millions in chips and then just walking straight out certainly point to that.

That was his dad who did that - that was more to bail him out for the billionth time when he was going bust. The main money laundering was done via flogging property to Russians at hideously inflated prices, and via Deutsche Bank (so I read anyway).

I can't help but think the reporting at a level the size of Yorkshire and the North East is so big it's almost pointless - that's approaching half the of England!

The population of Yorkshire alone is bigger than Scotland and bigger than Wales & NI combined.

It certainly is a confusing time for the trumpers who think covid-19 is a hoax but now must fathom out how the liberals have deliberately infected him with something that is both deadly but also doesn't exist and pray that he recovers from something that's really just the sniffles but still somehow be outraged at something or someone...

Some scary numbers in Northern Ireland. The 7 day average there is now the highest in any region of the entire UK, higher even that the NW of England

Scary how quickly this thing can catch fire in a region

Not quite sure what she thought she was getting at here, but she’s sure hit the nail on the head without even realising it.

Yep and it's so diverse too, south and west Yorkshire are pretty densely populated in comparison to the rest of it.

South Yorkshire is doing pretty well when compared to the rest of that region.

Similarly the west and east midlands grouped as one. The midlands covers a vast area with very different characteristics such that an R rate for the whole region is effectively meaningless.

6,968 new cases today up from 6,874 this time last week.

A definite flattening off.

Although the ZOE app had numbers increasing today.

Doesn't look like the "scenario" Vallance presented of 50k cases by end of October will happen.

Because we put restrictions in place. Their scenario was if we did nothing. Looks like they intervention helped steer people’s minds.

    • It's the photo that keeps on giving;
    • It would be piss-easy for a bot to manage, though.
    • I've heard that ticket sales for other events that use the same system have included the question 'are you still there?' on each window/browser you have with a place in the queue. If you don't confirm you are, it'll assume you're not and that place will drop.   I've no idea if Glasto/See will adopt this, but it would be challenging to keep on top of with many windows open.
    • People who're struggling are already priced out, so I don't think a bump in price will affect who attends. There'll still be a cross section, leaning young. I also think they'll do a soft breaking of the £400 ceiling, keeping the ticket price just below but having postage take it over. Next year the ticket itself will be over that threshold.
