On the fence about getting tickets for those Brixton shows... I really think it's just too hard to predict, other than the main stage names. So, unlikely to clash with Massive Attack and Pavement, or the auditori acts - beyond that it's nigh impossible to say.

I'm sure this has been covered plenty of times before but what are your top tips for first timers? Get your flights boxed off ASAP. Accommodation should be done over the next month or so. Being near a metro station somewhere is handy, or if you're lucky within walking/cab distance of the festival site. While you're there just try to pace yourself. Wear sensible trainers and sunscreen/a hat/shades, look after your phone/wallet in a pouch or side bag (last year had a bunch of phone thefts), and take a light jacket as it gets very cool later on. The festival is long (I've been often on site 6pm - 4am or later some days depending on the programme) and you might need to walk a lot depending on what you want to see. Hydrate properly and don't get too hammered and peak early.

Are there any particular stages which you prefer to others? The two main stages are not ideal, a bit car-parky, although they improved last year with some fake grass. The best stages are Rayban (lush amphiteatre facing the Mediterranean) and the Auditori (massive indoor auditorium)

Are there any particular stages which you prefer to others? It's all subjective really. What's previously been called the Ray Ban (the ampitheatre-style stage - not sure what they're calling it this year as the sponsorship has ended) is probably my favourite just because I can sit down and chill to watch something but it's worth exploring them all. Chilly Toad
I like the Ray Ban, but not the long viewing shadow behind its mixing desk / whatever you call it. Takes away so many good sitting spots. Actually I almost like the Adidas best, small, almost intimate and hard to beat with the proper band (last year: Fucked Up, Frank Carter, the year before Idles, Shellac, before Against me and so on). Liked this little OCB Paper Sessions thing last year (will they continue this?), also think that the DayPro stage is underrated. And Sala Apolo, of course. Don´t really like Primavera and Pitchfork. Main stages have improved lots with the "grass".
ConfidenceMan
Ray Ban is a lovely stage; great to chill and catch something in the late evening. Pitchfork can be nice - it tends to be quieter - but it gets so cold at night that you'd need a jacket for sure. Missed last year so looking forward to checking the "grass" in Mordor. Bits is fun - the beach stages - but can be a real trek if you're in the main arena and want to catch something down there.
daveje
22 minutes ago, FakeEmpire said: Are there any particular stages which you prefer to others? Adidas, beyond a doubt. Your milage may vary, but avoiding beer is a good way to pace yourself, and I'm speaking as a homebrewer so there's no anti-beer bias here! (Just anti crap beer, like Heineken.) Martini is my drink of choice at Primavera.
daveje
And while I think of it, I really hope they bring back the old Night Pro stage. That was a lovely site, and had some of the best surprises.
