Bad Nerves and Dead Poet Society worth checking out?

I heard a song by cleopatrick on Radio 1 the other evening that sounded good so I'll be putting some time in with them before the festival.

Bad Nerves are decent, really enjoying their album from last year at the moment. Fast and a bit punk. Bit like FIDLAR and Ramones so if you like either of those you'll be into them. Got into Dead Poet Society from the song .intoodeep which sounds very Royal Blood like and is the standout at the moment. I've been listening to their album ever since. The album is a bit all over the place though as there are some good tracks but some sound like a completely different band. It does say for fans of cleopatrick on Spotify so probably worth a go as well. I'll have to check out cleopatrick now!

Which ones aren’t dance acts? To save me sifting through the whole stage

I know Alfie Templeman, KennyHoopla and Noisy are not dance acts. KennyHoopla and Noisy would be more suited to the pit and Alfie to FR tbh.

Cheers mate, looking good! I would mention that last time Post Malone played he request no guitar bands were on at the same time as him so if it's the same again this year the pit will close early on Saturday.

Really? Why would he want to do that and why would the festival bow down to this?

Saturday is the only decent day for me and it’s bad enough that they’ve replaced RATM with Post Malone without finding out that it could finish early cos the headliner has a history of making ridiculous demands.

In my day, bands made sensible demands like having all the red m+m sweets removed or something, haha.

Quite a few! All the non-dance acts on there are Kara Marni (soul), JC Stewart (singer-songwriter pop), Surfaces (indie-pop), Madison Beer (pop), NOISY (electro-rock), KennyHoopla (indie rock/pop punk kinda), Alfie Templeman (indie pop), Thomas Headon (pop), Oliver Tree (alt rock/hip-hop), Flawes (indie pop), Sam Tompkins (R&B), Niko B (rap). Most of them before 4pm-ish really

Lowes are an indie-pop group, but they have loads of (quite good) dance features and Sofi Tukker have branched out to dance-sounds recently

Don’t know if anyone has pointed this out already but is Slowthai not playing All Points East on that Saturday as well as Reading?

It's in London so I'm guessing he'll be on at APE or R&L as a special guest and play first or early at one and later at the other.

Not sure why but I think it's something to do with him wanting all the crowd to watch him and I think he likes to think of himself as a modern rockstar but I could be completely wrong with that one. I assume he also likes rock music which is why he wouldn't want it clashing with him.

I thought only Download bowed down to these kinds of demands.

No R1 tent means no secret tent set😔 would have put money on twenty one pilots doing that this year

Can still be secret sets on other stages. Have had 'em before. Smaller ones like You Me At Six, naturally.

Lots of people pissed at the sudden lack of Doja and Charli and Gecs and seemingly no big female acts to replace them yet.

Guess so but maybe they just didn't have the options at hand. At least they have a FR stage which has 100% female representation.

Demob Happy > Sports Team > Bad Nerves > Declan McKenna > Prospa > Sam Fender > AJ Tracey > Catfish > Stormzy

Nosiy > Fever 333 > Alfie Templeman > Bob Vylan > Sigrid > Slowthai > City Morgue >  Two Door Cinema Club > Disclosure

Denzel Curry > Bad Boy Chiller Crew > Wolf Alice > Bloxx > Shy FX > Queens of the Stoneage

Not bad at all if that clash finder is near what it’ll be

Not much at the mo but still some bands to be announced and historically the line up gets better as it gets closer.

Would sell my ticket if there were loads of other festivals happening but due to the circumstances I’ll be glad just to be watching live bands at a festival.

Friday- Gallows

Saturday-  Bob Vylan, Badflower, Cleopatrick,Spiritbox, Ho99o9, Creeper 333

Sunday- QOTSA

Will prob watch bands like Nova Twins and Wolf Alice but they’re far from a ‘must see’.

True. They've done well to put it together at all this year honestly, Wolf Alice high up the bill too.

Based on those bands, check out: Demob Happy, Wargasm, Chapter and Verse, and IDK How They Found Me

Yeah i wasnt dissapointed by todays lineups. Surprised to see Dababy and Doja Cat both drop out other than the smaller international acts to be honest.

    • My party again had an outstanding 4 days in Barca. We made the right call to leave the festival site early at about 10.30 on Thursday to get ourselves some excellent steaks in the city. I am with everyone that the organization should have been clearer about what is going on and also if you would like to get rid of some attendees open more exits, they sent us from gate to gate until we finally were able to get out. Biggest 'disappointment' was the beer price, a YoY increase from 5 to 6 is absolutely nuts!!! (i am living in Switzerland so me making this comment says something 🙂)   Top 10:   1. Men I Trust 2. Role Model (could have been first as well, what a great artist and great songs) 3. The XX 4. The cure (the last 90 minutes) 5. Gorillaz 6. MBV 7. Ninajirachi (another big miss of the organization, clearly on the wrong podium and wonder if Olivia's surprise set had something to do with that and they had to reschuffle late the Occident, Cupra and Port schedules) 8. NewDad 9. Big Thief 10. Annastashia      We did 3 years Barca now and for next year looking at the Porto or Bilbao festivals as an option.
    • Personally if it was me now, I would be grabbing a green camping ticket with the knowledge closer when I've refreshed that I can still choose general if I want to....you can't do the opposite!    I would say if you are happy to watch your headliners and big bands further back to be able to see who you actually plan to later then yes it is fine. Its a much difference experience to any other festival especially food wise and camping surrounds.    Once you're in the arena as well you're not going back unless you've got a gap. If I go again I'll be going with the option of not trying to push the front and enjoying further back as you actually put too much pressure on it than the time take away can forget to enjoy other acts.
    • No complaints about the sound. We were like 2nd set of steps facing stage right in like the middle row.
    • On the whole then, yay or nay...I've had a look on festivals united and there's people who seem converted by Rock Im Park, I can imagine it might be different if it was a washout as RaR is tarmac.   The hotel side would be more to convince the non campers if it's an option. On my first visit to rock am ring we were shuttled into the area where you could stick the car next to the tent which was fantastic as it meant zero lugging of camping gear.
