I believe you man, just seems a strange one. Unless @lobo is right and The Park is being expanded.

Who knows. Could be my first Park headliner so actually works for me.

I don't think they've ever played The Park have they? Maybe they just want to try somewhere new rather than repeat themselves.

Oh right we've got Hot Chip headlining The Park now have we? Well I'll take that, never seen a Park headliner and my two pals who are as big Chipheads as I am both took a year off in 2015 so they'd both be made up with it.

Yeah they’ve pretty much played every realistic slot they could so guess it makes sense for them to do the Park if they’re wanting to stick to night time/headliner slots.

It's possible they just really dig the Park as well. I've seen Joe, Sarah, Alexis and Al in Park venues both doing various side projects and just cutting loose on a number of occasions.

No they haven’t so you could be right.

Pretty sure Joe Goddard did his thing there in 2017.

Maybe they just want a change, if the rumour holds true then it’s a great Saturday night right there.

I don’t think Hot Chip are nearly as big as they once were.

Agreed.

Their WH set was half full if that.   They were barely selling out academies on their last tour.

They'd be a great Park headliner - it'll be busy but no need for an upgrade.

For me it would be Tame Impala Friday, Killers Saturday and Cure Sunday.

If you need help getting tickets then as I already got some would be able to help you out?

Not even sure I’m doing the resale at the moment - still up in the air. Cheers for the kind offer though.

They're not much smaller than they've always been, and the West Holts set was well attended. Nothing spectacular but certainly not one of the thinner WH headline crowds I've seen. They headlined Green Man and Festival No 6 on the last tour, which is round about the level they've been for about a decade.

They’re listed above Primal Scream and Jon Hopkins at the Chems’ All Points East day. They seem to be at the same level as always, I agree with Lawn.

I don’t think they’ve been shunted down a stage at all - I don’t wanna put words in his mouth but Neil seemed to suggest there was an offer there for WH. They are genuinely the type of band that could and would say “we want to play the Park this time”.

That is interesting. I wouldn’t predict Chems on Saturday now, as a knock-on effect. My prediction is in tatters.

Quite fancying seeing The Killers now, if I go.

With The Streets clashing with Wu-Tang? That seems like an odd match too

I don't agree. They're from the same broad genre but fairly distant nonetheless. It's like saying it'd be odd if The Wombats played at the same time as The Cure.

I guess, but considering how much less rap there will be at the fest (compared to the dancier stuff which you can find elsewhere too) I'd have though you'd wanna split the hip-hop up more. I have no idea if this is actually something they would consider tbh though, really I just can't get my prediction to fit together anymore when I swap Chems and Streets

The Streets could sub the Pyramid.

 Stormzy, Childish Gambino

The Killers, Liam Gallagher

The Cure, The Streets

That still seems like a stupidly high booking to me, especially given the other options available (Vampire Weekend, Janet Jackson, The Strokes etc.) but I guess it could happen.

Think I'm gonna have to go back to the drawing board ffs

That Friday WH slot is up for grabs...

Aphex seems a really unlikely candidate for that slot though, Robyn surely is probably the most likely surely assuming Orbital are on the JP. Maybe Silk City too? (Though I currently have them subbing the Other)

    • Pressure will be shifted to Israel, but don't think anything is going to happen this side of the election.
    • It's encouraging news, but Israel's withdrawal from Gaza will very much depend on how credible Hamas's commitment to completely disarm is.   In my view they are right to be skeptical.
    • Now we’ll see if Israel are actually capable of winding their necks in    I doubt it
    • Policing is very relaxed, provided you stay within your lines I'd say. I don't think we're supposed to have an event shelter as well as a tent next to our van, but we've done it without issue for years. It's a happy vibe up there.
    • Do feel a lot more cynical about the Mercury now. Given the awards show is now an arena event, there's clearly a pressure on them to nominate mainstream acts in order to sell tickets for it. And not saying that Jade and Knats don't deserve to be nominated (haven't listened to either), but the fact the event is in Newcastle can't have nothing to do with that... (not to mention Fender winning last year, which frankly was a joke)    Hard not to agree with this: https://www.clashmusic.com/features/this-years-mercury-prize-is-a-pivot-towards-the-mainstream/
