BBC's The Biggest Weekend 2018

I'd imagine this would be held in Singleton Park. When we used to have Escape in The Park it had a capacity of about 30,000.

Only other place I can think of is where they held the Eisteddfod in Velindre in 2006. But that's WELL out of the way.

Taylor and Ed on the same bill is pretty huge, but otherwise that is a pretty bizarre lineup. Beck headlining!? And who the fuck is Nigel Kennedy?!*

* Obviously looked him up - still nonplussed.

You know it's four different events for the four stations, right?  And Radio 3 plays classical music so a violinist is perfectly suitable. :P

With the billings Beck's been receiving over the last few years you'd think he's had some massive career resurgence and not just won a Grammy for a mediocre album everybody swiftly forgot about.

that album is a masterpiece if compared to his most recent album

Aye I googled, just seems bizarre.

Got to cater for the Radio 3 audience somehow. He's playing on a Monday in Coventry anyway.

    • I'm surprised they risked it, especially after nearly missing their Glasto 22 slot under similar circumstances  I did see someome say Ellie didnt sound as strong as recently but I'm guessing playing 3 shows in 2 different continents doesnt help that    On the topic though I can definitely see them doing a Fontaines and having a break over winter before a few final Clearing shows next summer
    • That's fair on WA - I did recall people thinking Fontaines would take this year off before this was announced.    On the subject of Wolf Alice, they did Lollapalooza in Chicago on Saturday then Kendal Calling last night. Bit of an odd choice, no? Half imagine at Kendal that they would've been just exhausted.
    • Just logged onto the app to start planning my days and there really are a LOT of stages missing. Apart from the Seaside Stage there is no Casemates this year etc. Apart from the Seaside Stage, there are no Casemates this year, etc. Can't see anything about the kids field really. And there's local acts that are normally there like Kojak's Revenge that aren't appearing either.  Normally we get down fairly early but I can't see anything before 3pm I'm keen to see. Only one real clash as well, which is good, but it's thin and it's not thin in the sense of "I've seen a lot of these acts before"
    • Lifelong Carlisle United supporter here.🤦‍♂️ Good luck for the coming Season and see you in October!
