5pm in JP just stinks of a Gorillas set to me given the new high def screens in place last year. Think the new JP had the best screens (side and back of stage) on site.

Hadn't read that before and can't pretend to fully understand all of it but really interesting stuff

It's the fucking KLF !!!!

:lol::lol::lol:

I'm starting to think you're not a real person...no one can be that into the KLF! You're clearly doing a parody...of what I don't know, but it's very good and highly entertaining :D

Are we sure the 5pm John Peel thing is the same thing Emily was talking about?

If it is, I'm sure it'll be bigger than The Maccabees, if not..... yeah then and Liam Gallagher are fair shouts

I'm not entirely sure that Maccabees or Liam twat-head would be regarded as a big surprise, especially as Liam wasn't regarded as a big surprise when he played with beady eye.

Or maybe, I am the KLF and I know what the big secret is ;)

They were a secret special guest though - even if the surprise element wasn't really there as the info leaked out beforehand.  Although this was when folk still had hopes of genuinely big / exciting acts opening the Other Stage.

I'd say he still qualifies, particularly as it's more or less the launch of his solo career.  He's still a big star, even if at this point its just by repuation alone.

but just-another-band isn't the sort of "big secret" I think Emily is likely to mention, particularly after most of the bigger names have already been announced.

To me, her words indicated a special band (if it's a band) rather than just-another-band.

Exactly. I'm not sure the names that have been discussed on this thread the most really constitute a big secret. Also Emily alluded to the secret, actually being just that a well kept secret which should surely rule out the likes Lady G, Gorillaz, Elbow who have all been bandied about for ages.

Sounds like we are coming back around to the legend slot supergroup to me.

Whilst I don't doubt that your info is correct and there is something on the JP, I just can't believe that's what the "big secret" Emily's referring to is. The way she spoke about it makes me think that it can't be something on "just" the John Peel. That stage would be rammed with thousands of people all turning up expecting something huge now.

To be honest, I wouldn't be surprised if that's what she's told Michael as a decoy secret to stop him blabbing about the "big" one

To quote Emily

"We've managed to keep some big secrets recently and there's a couple more this year that haven't gone out yet as well.

"There's a really big one. I haven't even hinted or told anyone it's coming and we've managed to keep it completely quiet for the first time ever."

She says it's rather than they're or he/she. So my guess is a flyover. Red Arrows maybe.

    • I hope it stays under £400.  A lot of us aren't flush with cash.  Charities are great but do they need £1 mil (I jest)
    • You're not wrong - but i still don't like it!  F5 forever
    • Its fascinating how you turn every point of conversation into a matter of 'winners' and 'losers' - everyone owes you because . . . actually, i dont really understand why, because you predicted that things would get more expensive over time?
    • New Overmono album is... just good for me. Had high hopes which were later dashed a bit after listening to some of the singles but they brought me back around enough to appreciate some very nice work in there. https://music.apple.com/ie/album/pure-devotion/1894298100
    • I don't really worry about headliners (unless there's a real possibility of a once-in-a-lifetime artist landing for it) but I'm starting to feel a bit cold on the names floating around bar Fontaines.  Harry Styles and Sam Fender, I can see the value and commercially speaking, they've earned it.  Sabrina Carpenter is obviously popular enough to do it - but after she's headlined everywhere else and done Coachella earlier this year, is it not just a bit predictable to follow what other festivals have done?
