Tbf when I was watching her Glastonbury set back I was thinking ‘man, this absolutely slaps, and wow, Lorde sure has a nice bum’ so I’m glad that she’s decided to put these things together in a neat little package for her next album rollout.

I genuinely dont know howvto say anything about the cover that isnt going to upset someone but my first thought was - why is that needed- my second thought was obviously its nothing to do with me. 3rd thought. Bloody glad it's not the rolling stones new one.

Think everyone is in agreement it's a bit bizarre. No need to be sensitive.

Whoa now, before any of you perverts get too excited, I zoomed RIGHT in on the photo and gave it a good look over and she is wearing bikini bottoms.

It’s a bit jarring because it doesn’t really feel like something she would do.

Yeah it took me by surprise but maybe she’s going full punk for this one

Got people talking, hasn’t it?

And besides, although it is just a full blown shot of her arse, there’s a certain artiness to the picture, or at least it’s not just her squeezing her boobs at the camera. Be interesting to see if the rest of the album promo stuff is like this or if it’s just a talking point for the first single.

Yeah that’s what surprised me, she’s never really gone down the “sex sells”’route before, but as you say maybe it is just for the initial shock factor.

She was 16 when royals dropped and I think only like 19/20 when Melodrama was out, so it’s probably a general growing up thing.

True. And it’s not like I’m bothered either way, I’m neither prude nor perv, it was just genuinely surprising to see.

No it’s definitely been done as a statement. I’m expecting this album to sound more mature than Pure Heroine and Melodrama and I think she’s trying to signal that with her first statement piece!

    • Another one from Sheffield DocFest this weekend, Earth Wind & Fire docu, directed by Questlove. Sensational archive footage, contributions from band members, family, plus a lot of very big fans (Stevie, Lionel, Flea, the Obamas) and a warts n all assessment of the genius / flawed human being that was Maurice White. Also, I never realised he started out as a jazz drummer with Ramsay Lewis. Well worth a watch.

    • Got HBO Max to watch football so watched One Battle After Another which is a great film and deserves its awards and then rewatched Magnolia and that is a flipping amazing film...so much in it. (also rewatching Angels In America series which is also amazing).
