Does this take LDR out the running as a potential sub? I can never remember if there's much crossover with Latitude

I think there's quite often one Latitude headliner at Glastonbury but I'm not sure if there's ever been more than one. Let's hope for Lana rather than George Ezra but I wouldn't be surprised if none of them played.

So assuming The Strokes are playing a UK festival, where else does that leave them to play other than Glasto? Just APE/Hyde Park? Could they do a Finsbury Park date?

They wouldn't do Hyde Park after the last time and APE is prior to coming to Europe so I doubt that also.

Makes 2 x Gallagher and Gambino more likely for subs.

A lot of us had Ezra down for third on the Sunday, not sure he'd play that slot now considering he's headlining two other festivals that month (think he's also headlining Victorious or something similar - too lazy to check).

Very true. Think he’d have to sub now if he agreed to play at all. When we used to say about Sheeran playing third down or Ellie Goulding, they’d weren’t headlining fests like this.

He’s a future fucking headliner though, sadly. Maybe they’ll keep powder dry for that.

Yeah heaflining Latitude certainly doesn't rule anyone out (New Order did it in 2016), but I think George Ezra is only headlining festivals so far so hopefully that does rule him out.

You reckon? I can't see him getting any bigger than he is now, but then I think I said that before his second album came out so could easily be wrong. Did he even have any hit singles on this album? I'm surprised it took him to such large gigs/festival placings as I don't think I heard anything from it.

Shotgun got to number 1 in the charts and has been fucking inescapable. You definitely will’ve heard it.

At the moment I’m thinking Liam Gallagher, Childish Gambino and The 1975 as subs. Would be a very strong trio.

Any reason for The 1975 being back in the frame or just a stab in the dark?

Two of the biggest songs of last year. You seriously not heard Shotgun? That was much bigger than Budapest was even.

Latitude headliners are George Ezra, Snow Patrol and Lana Del Rey.

Stokes is still on ?

Dear God.

I've no idea what kind of festival Latitude is, maybe this line up is right up its strasse, but imagine relying on George Ezra for something to have a dance to.

2019 is not being kind to the upper echelons of festival line ups.

I'll give it a listen now.

Someone on Twitter replied to the thingy saying it's 75 subbing The Cure on Sunday 100%.

There are a couple off of his latest album that are always on Absolute Radio, although I couldn't tell you what either actually sound like right now. Apparently the album was the second biggest selling of last year (behind the Greatest Showman OST), so he must be pretty big. As I said in another thread, he's following the same trajectory as the ginger prince.

EDIT: Shotgun! That's the one!

Do yourself a favour and don’t. It’s an awful earworm.

And I must’ve missed that but very surprising if true - that crowd is gonna dwarf The Cure’s surely! Essentially a fourth headliner.

Shotgun is always getting blasted on Co-op radio, I know you gonna be rinsing their 10% student discount.

Yep without a doubt and I love The Cure. Would probably be bigger than Stormzy as well tbh. Can't see them booking such a strong sub under a relatively weak headliner.

That would be an amazing two acts for me. It is like one of those two big headliner subs Gucci started the other day but actually real. Would be good.

    • 13th Primavera (Thursday was definitely making me feel like this was the cursed year).  Blood Orange was such a party by the end of their set but we all knew that rain storm was approaching.  So gutted Massive Attack didn't play after the false hope of a new rescheduling, especially knowing that Elizabeth Fraser & Horace Andy were backstage with them!  Managed a bit of Melt Banana but was just so over the weather by that point.   Friday was awesome, Rilo Kiley were so much fun.  Never been the biggest Cure fan but made the effort for them after Thursday & Robert Smith sounds like he did back in the 80s.  PinkPantheress & Viagra Boys were also great.   The highlight for me was Sudan Archives on the Saturday, she was stunning & with the Olivia Rodrigo surprise set too it made up for the Thursday sh*t show.  Dijon & Knocked Loose also superb.   Shoutout to Cardiacs on the Tuesday too, they were so LOUD, played a storming set.
    • OK, never mind, I'll take normal Nine Inch Nails.
    • Probably my least favourite of the five editions I've been to, but still plenty good enough for me to go again. Weirdly, I was just totally running out of stamina a lot earlier into the night than I remember happening in the past. I feel like I missed a lot of the weirder sets on the smaller stages as I was just totally cooked. Not Primavera's fault, obviously. Maybe I'm just getting old - or maybe I need to pace my drinking better...   Anyway - is David Byrne a realistic get for next year? Certainly hoping so.
    • watching clips of the cure in Barcelona, wow 2 hours 25 minute set. That's gonna be tough on the Sunday but can't bloody wait for it
