Where did the stuff about Gambino retiring after Coachella even come from? I had a look into it like last week and all the stuff I found about him retiring Childish Gambino seemed to assume he was planning to do so after his next album/tour. Before that I thought he was supposed to be retiring after Coachella but I couldn't find any sources for that whatsoever.

It’s just an assumption. He’s not even announced for Coachella yet. He’s just been saying that this tour will be his last and Coachella usually want some special event for their fee so a final Bino show would fit.

Fair enough. I thought there was more to it than that (like the Coachella rumour specifically being that it's his last show), so I guess that's positive. If he is releasing a new album it must be quite likely that he'll tour it past April.

Sorry for the off topic post, but does anyone know where the 2019 Possibilities (Non-Headliner) thread has gone? Wanted to post in it but can't find it, has it been deleted?

erm... I can't find it either, but I haven't deleted it.

I've just checked the moderator logs and I can't see anything for it there either. Only thing I can think of is that a corrupt database record is causing it to not display.

How odd, glad it wasn't me being stupid ?

Not necessarily. As said, he’s called this his last tour and he’s already done three or four continents. It could go either way but it isn’t like he’d be quitting as soon as the tour starts.

Anyway, what were you going to post? :P

The possibility of Christine & the Queens being a Pyramid sub. Seems as though she's headlining APE which tends to be Pyramid sub size. I originally had her down for 4th Pyramid or John Peel headliner but I reckon she might get something better now.

Yep, reckon so. Mates went to her Bournemouth and Hammersmith shows this week and were blown away. She appeared at the back of the auditorium singing a song and worked her way back to the stage - just imagine her suddenly popping up under Lonely Tree and meandering back through the crowd to the Pyramid Stage with her dance entourage - for sure would be a moment

I was actually thinking that she might end up being an APE exclusive, would make the booking a bit stronger I guess. I've been thinking West Holts headliner for her for a while but I guess she might even be bigger than that now.

Fair. I can't see it myself. Like Neil said, they may have booked her for APE not expecting it to sell out and budgeting based on that; she certainly don't feel Pyramid sub-sized to me. Can see her just doing APE tbh seeing as it's such a big show for her.

Yeah she could well be an exclusive for APE. Think she'd work well as a sub for Macca if she is at Glasto. The crowd is gonna be full of people waiting for Macca no matter who plays it, and it sounds as though her shows are pretty spectacular so I'm sure she'd do a much better job than others at keeping that crowd engaged.

I knew one song when I saw her at Glastonbury last time and it really was one of those moments. I wasn't expecting anything near the level of what I saw. Blew me away. I think she'd be a great act before a massive headliner for that reason.

Assuming Macca does it, his sub will be interesting one. Certainly can't see The Streets taking that slot.. although last time it was Black Eyed Peas so who knows

Will he be choosing his own sub again though, is that now a thing?

Hopefully the sub before Macca is someone / a band  I want to see. I cant be arsed with an hour of someone I don't like just to get a good spot.

Childish Gambino would be preferable as Ive not seen him & I like the 2 or 3 tunes Ive heard. From his videos - I suspect it would beva spectacle too.

Liam would be fine.

Caught 2 or 3 songs of Lana Del Rey last time she played... it wasnt for me.

They'll put someone horrendous in before him again. Need to churn the shite out of the crowd.

    • First time for me, really enjoyed it. Nice venue, nice weather, good vibes, etc.   Notes on performances: CMAT's a great performer - seen her live twice now.  GANS are my favourite new act since Big Special, and live they're fantastic. Fellow Brummies too, so I'm all about that. The album's a bit disappointing though. Primal Scream were great, although I felt the crowd seemed a bit muted. The Libertines sounded knackered. Not sure they're suited to a festival. First time seeing The Royston Club, thought they were very good - the tent seemed to be full of kids on each others shoulders singing along. I'm all about that. First time seeing the K's, a bit disappointed. Didn't like his voice, and I felt like every song sounded the same as the last one. Sarajevo is a good tune, though. It still sounds like all the others, just a bit better.  The Maccabees and Two Door Cinema club were a but underwhelming, but Pelican by the Maccabees is a banger. It all sounded a bit Travis/Early Coldplay to me though. The Wombats took me by surprise - I expected 1 1/2 hours of 'Let's Dance to Joy Division' style indie-landfill, so I was surprised to hear that some of the rest of their stuff had dynamics and range. I still don't think they're any good, but I can't say they didn't surprise me either. Just not my thing.   Surprise of the weekend for me was Rizzle Kicks. Never listened to them before, but they got me out of my tent and into the arena as I was trying to nurse a hangover and I thought it was a blast.    Will probably go next year too.
    • Not really anything to say other than the fact I'm down at Opeth and this has been a cracking summer by and large here. Few duds, plenty of sellouts, strong weather, and the craft beer is cheaper than the regular bar. Winner winner, chicken dinner!
    • Pink Floyd night on sky arts time for me  to wallow in nostalgia and remember some incredible gigs
