They've been on a slow campaign of continual improvement in the area since the days of the soulless trudge through an area of anonymous tented venues.  The Blues and Gully venues are good examples of the direction they seem to be taking and each time I return the place is a little better.

That's a fair point. I suppose my major issue is with Sonic really

They could start with the sound system setup.  As soon as there is a crowd in there, unless you are right up front, the sound is balls - seems the majority of the speakers are at ground level...

they should just replace it with a normal tent. all the open sides don't work at all, and it's utter shit if it's raining/windy.

I would assume like most other tents at Glastonbury, they've rented it, so why not rent one that isn't rubbish?

Because look at the shape - it's all weird and unique and the kids with their repetitive beats and their crazy drugs will just love that shit, man.

All bollocks. It doesn't even work for just DJs, let alone live acts that they occasionally have on there.

In El Paso where ATDI are from, I ran past an "adult" drive in. Couples welcome, apparently. Christ on a bike, can you imagine the shit that goes down there? To be fair, I'm not sure I'd want to go in one of those cars after the first couple.

Fixed that for you Scally.:)

Sorry, but I'm not interested in this. As a spectacle, sure. I'll swing by and take a look. But there's just no way I'm going to waste time watching a movie at the Glastonbury Festival, of all places. It doesn't help that I'll be on my own. What am I supposed to do, sit in a car by myself?

Nah. This one ain't for me.

Yup same here....won't be on my own but it still doesn't float my boat.  Whatever the weather I can imagine the cars getting completely trashed by Friday night at the latest and the whole place becoming a complete shit tip by end of the weekend.

Nice idea, and it will look great, no doubt the Queue will be ridiculous though, I've never bothered with the ribbon tower as the Queue has always put me right off and I'm sure this will be the same. I expect you can probably plonk yourself on the floor if you want though, but not quite the same. The other problem I'd have is if I bought booze in with me I'd need a wee after 5 minutes.

I finally went up the ribbon tower at about 3 in the morning last year. The view from the top was nice enough, but  the trip up the stairs with all those ribbons lit up at night - WOW.

Barely a queue at the time either.

Not the best pictures, but hopefully you get the idea - you're inside a rainbow!

It's looks great, I will definitely make the effort to go up there, but every time I've thought about it and been near it, it's normally been mid afternoon and I've taken one look at the queue and walked straight past. Will definitely make an effort to check it out late at night instead.

Everyones saying queues will be ridiculous, but perhaps they will have rows of cars at the back of the field which you can queue to sit in, but then plenty of green space in front of the cars so people can just rock up and sit on the ground if they wish to do so? Would mean its has the novelty but can still accommodate plenty more.

Personally i quite like watching a film at a festival with a few drinks and a smoke. Always a good way to re-charge if you're feeling a tad shattered from it all.

I keep looking at the map for 2016 and wondering where the heck they're going to sit a hundred cars? Any other news I've missed they're rearranging stuff? Just doesn't seem possible unless they're expanidnig the border completely at the same time, otherwise there's going to be some seriously squashed campers

I think they could probably find more space to use without eating too much into public camping. Not certain on this as I might have confused it with something else, but I think that "Saxon Markets" has been mentioned as a (very vague) location - it basically could mean anywhere from the stalls backing onto the railway track at the southern end, all the way up to the edge of the JP field in the north. Silver Hayes is right in the middle of that area, and there's probably enough space to do something there especially if its a replacement for one or two of the less popular venues and/or some others are moved around.

Oh right, so Saxon Markets is a much bigger than just one of the camping fields or the like? I'm just trying to imagine 100 Cuban cars in a field and it sounds like a lot. Unless they're planning on cutting some of the hospitality camping down and move more workers or something off site. That Woodsies area looks like a spot prime for a cutting

Used to love camping in Suggs then Woodsies. Next to the old cinema field. Would be stoked if hospitality got booted somewhere distant as it's been a pain in the arse for almost a decade now. Bring on the drive-in.
