Royal Blood are due a new album and packed out the JP a few years back (I don't think they've played since then). It wouldn't surprise me if they get a decent Other slot.

Any of those bands would be perfect, I know Dinosaur Jr are touring at the moment, so there's a definite possibility of plenty of bloody eardrums at the farm!

Soundgarden are ripe for an other stage headline slot too I reckon.

Already purported it in the headliner forum, but Maiden would be grand. Dickinson had a bee in his bonnet back in '14 about it (calling it "middle-class" and "bourgeois") but I reckon that was likely sour grapes over not getting there first. Post-cancer, I feel he may have had a change of heart. Judging by the bucketload of Maiden shirts I saw this year, I think they could definitely pull it off - though perhaps not on their current tour (too heavy on the new album).

Iron Maiden, Glastonbury '19, Friday night Pyramid. That would be riotous fun. Fingers crossed.

As for this year, bang on The Pixies, Feeder - and let's stick Whitesnake into that ZZ Top/Motorhead slot. Be a great sundown singalong to Here I Go Again.

I'll certainly join the calls for Mudhoney. Also really hope Car Seat Headrest are back with a more forgiving slot than 11am this time, that's probably my favourite album of the year right now. 

Metz would be fantastic.

Reckon they'll be doing better than a decent Other slot - as high as Pyramid sub seems completely in their reach if the hype of the first album is anything to go by

Mudhoney and Melvins please! Obviously jonesing for NIN but Deftones would also be great. Faith No More are a long term wish as well, although I doubt they would sacrifice an Other headline slot for them.

The festival definitely needs to expand more in to these areas. It seems a bit odd that such a major genre is generally excluded.

To me it feels like they've left it too long between albums so they have lost all of their momentum. You're probably right that I've put them too low but even as a fan I think it would be a disappointing Pyramid sub booking for me.

 

Oh and +1 for Frank Carter and the Rattlesnakes. I thought they would have been ace on the Hell stage this year.

Billy Corgan confirmed that Smashing Pumpkins will tour next year, and made a facial expression about who will be on stage. If he gets D'arcy, Iha and Chamberlin onboard it would be a great otherstage headliner

If he's reforming the original lineup you better believe it'll be for the money which just isn't at Glastonbury. Struggle to think of where in the UK they'd play other than their own shows (maybe a BST date) but I'd bet it wouldn't be Glastobury unfortunately

Let's not forget that Glastonbury has had both The Kooks and The Fratellis subbing the Pyramid on their second albums (albeit in piss poor Glastonbury lineup years) and they didn't make nearly the same waves that's Royal Blood did on album #1. It wouldn't be a great booking and maybe you're right about them leaving it too long and the hype having died down but I definitely wouldn't be shocked to see them sub the Roses or something

Maybe subbing Download, Reading wouldn't suit them anymore. Would probably go anywhere they are playing, especially if it's the original line up...but please Billy, play the hits.

not sure if Download is the place for them either, although probably makes more sense than any other UK festival. i'm assuming if he is reforming the original lineup it'll be to play the old material exclusively as he's made various comments in the media recognising that people aren't at the shows to see the new stuff so maybe he's finally willing to just give the fans what they want (old members and all). a Pumpkins set of strictly 90's material would be a total dream for me

Virtually no chance though. They seem to shun (or are shunned by?) the major UK festivals. I don't think they've even played Reading + Leeds since the first time I went in 2002
