I've made a schedule for Rock Werchter recently and just added a few names from here and there to complete it, only thing I question myself if Nick Cave would perform with his recent album, I mean..? Also didn't include those poppy acts liked Emilie Sande, Lady Gaga, John Legend and others because it just doesn't feel normal to me that a pop acts would be followed by for example a Radiohead haha

This might be a ridiculous thing to ask but for lower acts do they sometimes perform two years in a row? Just that I've seen a couple of bands on here such as Sigur Ros and Explosions in the Sky who played this year. I don't know what the common consensus is on that.

George Ezra did 2014 and 2015

Catfish and the Bottlemen did 2015 and 2016

It's normally younger British bands who play two years in a row on the main stages, normally in a situation where they're much bigger in the second year and get a higher slot. I'd say it's unlikely either of Sigur Ros or Explosions in the Sky will play again for a few years yet though.

Yeah I was thinking this, definitely Explosions won't be back as they're touring now. Sigur Ros probably not either, they'll probably headline latitude 2017/18.

 

I bloody hope 1975 aren't back.

Think 1975 did a couple of years back as well so doubt they'll be back for a good few years.

Yeah they played early on the Other in 2013 then exploded so played before Dolly on the Pyramid the next year. Logic suggests they won't be back until 2019 at least now although Matty did tweet the other day about more new stuff from them coming out next year so who knows.

No idea, I just assumed they'll be bringing something new out soonish. It's been a few years since their last album. Plenty of acts who'll be releasing new music by next June won't have announced they're doing so yet.

Everyone's putting FKA Twigs for Park but she subbed WH off the back of one album last time she played. I'd say with a 2nd album on the way she's a JP headliner or late-afternoon Other. Hopefully the former, probably the latter.

Been through my prediction and trimmed out anyone who isn't confirmed to be active/working on new material next year and tried to replace most of them with acts who seem like they definitely should be active. Lots that I trimmed out I do expect to be around next Summer (Royal Blood for instance) but I just thought it'd be interesting to do this for now and see where it left things.

Everyone keeps suggesting Warpaint as a stage headliner. Why do people always assume they will headline a stage rather than play any other spot?

(I only ask cos I'm likely to see a lot of Pyramid headliners this year but don't wanna miss Warpaint).

they just seem like a good candidate to headline the Park at this stage in their career, and after having done Other last time round it seems the best place for them

Yeah I've had Warpaint down as both JP subs or Park headliners because of them having done Other last time around. Don't think there's really any other slot for them unless they were to return to the same stage.

Tour dates suggest they won't play. No back to back dates announced and they have shows on the Thursday and Sunday of Glasto.

Kylie was booked to headline in 2005 but had to pull out due to being diagnosed with cancer. not sure if she'll be booked again, although i've been hoping it'd happen (and she did appear with Scissor Sisters in 2010). Madonna seems like one that'll probably happen somewhere down the line if she's up to it. she doesn't do festivals though (apart from some tiny set at Coachella almost a decade ago) so hard say until she shows any interest in doing festivals at all. can't see either being booked for next year though

I don't think they are going to do it. Yet he could hardly give any hints. which suggest they might when tickets are about to go on sale for their biggest ever UK gig, which is a very big risk.

Glasto must have had their headliners sewn up for a while as I believe they would have made an attempt at DM this year.

when you've got Radiohead, The Stone Roses and Ed Sheeran, all huge huge acts, as your headliners i really don't think Depeche Mode need to be taken in to consideration
