Another T shirt man

I take 7 t shirts, 1 for travelling there and setting up, 1 for each day and 1 for travelling home.

Travelling there will be a Rolling Stone (the mag) T shirt, travelling back will be a Jack Daniels T shirt.

For the festival ;

Chris Cornell (Higher Truth Tour 16)
Modest Mouse (Dead before the ship sank 07)
King Giz (Masters of the Universe 14)
Eat Static (Abduction 93)

Last one is a choice between - Nick Cave, Glastonbury (2003) or if it arrives in time it will be the new King Giz Nanagon Infinity.

Almost forgot I'm off to see Neil Young + Promise of the Real in a couple weeks so might have his Monsanto Years T to consider also.

One of the more difficult decisions of the festival.

Current favourite ;

Edit - Oops that was bit big.

@The_Amazing_Oblong That Gizzard/Skeletor t-shirt is great, I nearly bought that myself.

I have a couple of band tees that may come along but in general I agree with @stuartbert two hats - Glastonbury is a place apart from 'real life' and you can wear things you wouldn't normally get away with.

Also, silly slogan t-shirts - if done right, not like those pictured above - make me smile.

I'd like clarification on the "rule" please Ben..

I wore my very old  Spacemen 3 tee shirt to watch Spiritualised last year..  and also a "Keith" tee shirt to watch the who..

Please confirm if that was ok..

and also, more importantly.. will it be frowned upon if I wear my old 70's style ST Etienne top when I watch them this year?

Ah, congo. Many thanks for your question.

I am delighted to confirm that not only were these sartorial decisions entirely acceptable, one might argue, certainly with the former, that you displayed an admirable dash of taps-the-side-of-his-nose been there for the long haul credibility.

As such, I'll even forgive you your failure correctly to refer to the magnificent Spiritualized®.

Very well done.

Working on the recycling crew I tend to have a change of clothes for every day as can get pretty mucky/sweaty doing the work and will be there before gates open so need a few more t-shirts

Initial thoughts are:

  • Some old battered ones for work
  • Past Glastonbury t-shirts
  • Beautiful Days
  • Croissant Neuf Summer Party
  • Wedding Present
  • Pixies
  • Belle & Sebastian
  • Carter USM
  • Primal Scream
  • Depeche Mode
  • Space Ibiza
  • Back to Basics

The last one will probably be the only day specific one for when they are doing the Glade takeover on the Thursday

A fine selection, and hats off for giving this essential preparatory category its due attention!

Majority of my t-shirts that I take aren't always band t shirts so I'll spare the details!

I do however like to announce a squad of around 16 in the initial long list and gradually cut this down over the coming weeks letting them down gently until releasing the final roster on the Tuesday of Glasto week.

This isn't just for t-shirts and apllies to jackets and jumpers also! Incredibly sad but keeps me sane during the build up.

    • Another note, if I didn't mention the food in the arena for main stage is right at the back. Bands wise they do very well for but as a festival so far they pros are outweighed quite heavily currently for me.
    • On another note for RIP as an event, there is some good things but there are so many things people going to UK festivals would hate and how far behind they are.  Consistent network and water, beer and pretzel like food is brought around to buy in the crowds. Topping up on the wristband is good. The camping and food arrangement is not good, you really need cooking kit. Water points inside the arena are bonkers, water points in camping are a faff unless you are close enough in general camp. Merch stands are crazy. You MASSIVELY need to think about your lidl shop for camping and try and do it so you've one stop. It's definitely worth it getting to a camping shop here, picking up a rolley between your mates and stacking it for the walk back....lidl is cheap though, not hard getting in but Thursday queues getting in and into the camping is mad. You have to register first for a wristband as well leaving any bigger bags behind so pull to a side if only two and do it separately. I was joining a WhatsApp group for solo camp so went with the flow but I've learnt. Had it been me or just two my tent would have been down much quicker.  Big final note, I got a fresh and black 3 man from decathlon before coming and put in bigger suitcase with my airbed and sleeping bag...do this. Take a smaller option for your clothes. If you go to Munich first, book your train to Nuremberg as far in advance as you can....very important!....it hikes crazy. Probably bettee overall for baggage sizes to do BA both ways but you do then need to go back to Munich after too. Use the B&B hotel hbf the night before....its very nice, comfortable, cheap and within 10 minutes of the station which also serves as a transport stop 15 minutes from the registration.  Get up literally like 5am with everything back the night before, shower and go. Transport is free anyway for festival ticket holders during the duration.  Would I just choose to travel in each day and back to a hotel?, on the basis of sleep and getting accommodation cheap enough for 3 nights i might just do especially if I picked the ticket up early enough. It doesn't feel like a festival in a normal sense....unless you are in general yoi have to exit on the paths outside the camping to walk down and in which also applies for getting water so have a stock up. Toilets are in the camping.
