Binary comes in whatever length is necessary.  8 bits in the early days of computing, then 16, 32 and today 64.  Days of the week require only 7 distinct patterns, so 3 is appropriate

Given that so many people have put them in, and I'm pedantic - can I just point out that any leading zero in binary is redundant except to increase / fill out the bit length, and so in this context utterly pointless?
