Three things you're probably not going to do

This is mainly because I'm too lazy, but just going by past experience, some things I just don't get round to.

  1. Make something in the craft fields.  I hated craft at school, mainly because I was rubbish at it.  Last thing I need is some extra luggage on the way home that reminds me of my incompetence at making things.
  2. Go to the Acoustic Stage (unless Art Garfunkel is on there). Yes, some good bands play.  Yes, the real ale selection is good, but I'm rarely so interested that I will traipse across the site to get there.  And you can't beat a proper cellar for keeping real ale.  I don't like real ale at beer festivals and I don't like it at music festivals. I'll be there for Art though.
  3. Go up the Ribbon Tower.  Well, I might if by some miracle there is no queue when the notion takes me or I really don't want to go for a wander/sit on the hill/see a band/get food/get a drink instead of queuing for ages to get a view that isn't as good as the hill.

So other than the craft stuff (which I'm sure is ace for some people), these things are good.  Just not good enough for the effort - for me at least.  I'll probably do all three now I've said this.

i walked past about 5-6am on thursday in 2014 and walked straight up the tower, otherwise i never would off entertained it.

Worth it?

it was a great view if thats what you mean, and i was doing nothing else at that time of the morning by myself, as the missus was well asleep ......apart from chewing the face of myself.

but if you mean would i do it again? ive 4 newbies coming with me this year and if i happen to be stumbling past again with no queue i'd probably recommend they go and have a look

1. Not going to watch someone just because its a legend (Sorry but Stevie Wonder was shite and I missed Orbital (particularly when he started sleazing up with a backing singer who I think was his wife))

2. Not going to watch comedy (I never hear it properly at festivals)

3. Not going up the ribbon tower (I hate heights)

1) Take it easy on the wednesday night. Every year i say "ill have a quiet one". Every year i see thursday mornings sunrise.

2) See a pyramid headliner. None of the 3 do much for me anymore. If theres nothing on i could see Adele and see what thats about but i fully expect to be somewhere else.

3) STAND IDLY BY WHILE THEY ALLOW LCD SOUNDSYSTEM AND SIGUR ROS TO CLASH. I WILL NOT ALLOW IT!

Fully understand your reasoning, you're right in much of what you say, but I'd stick up for all 3:

1. I made myself a (Admittedly amateurish) ring many years ago in the craft fields and it's never left my finger as a permanent Glastonbury memento. When it cracked last year they repaired it at no charge despite my insistence.

2. The pub is one of the best, often not too rammed, and a careful selection of the music is fine, again in a more chilled space than much of the festival.

3. We got up the tower with a 10 minute queue so it's worth doing if the timings right.

1.  Find someone who can help my bad back in the Healing Fields (although I promise myself to do this every year)

2.  Not go to the Bimble for one last nightcap after ShangriLa before realising it's about as far away as we can get from Tangerine Fields where we camp

3.  Avoid the crush between ShangriHell and the Unfairground even though we know it's a hellride of it's own
