Adele sub headliner?

They seem to go for the exact opposite rather than having crossover so I would think something very different to sub both.

Faithless to sub Adele.

In the past they seemed to go for opposites, however last year I'd say they went for similar (Paul weller  to the who, pharrell to kanye) -  someone new took over the pyramid stage bookings last year, so I'm not sure if that's the new policy or if it was just a coincidence.

Any reason why it definitely won't be Jake Bugg? Outside of the Radiohead hope, he was one of the acts I thought would be likely to take that slot. Living in Nottingham, there doesn't seem to be as much of a buzz surrounding him as there was a few years ago so maybe a sub headline slot is a bit of a reach now.

To be honest, if it isn't Radiohead none of the other possible acts mention in this thread would get me excited in the slightest

And yeah, I'll be absolutely floored if Raidohead sub Muse or Coldplay. At a HUGE stretch I could MAYBE see them being co-headliners along with Muse, but...naaah.

Yeah, he's not big enough to play that high up anymore. He's moved down on the TITP and V lineups so I imagine if he plays Glastonbury it'll be similar.

That's a relief! There are so many acts I'm not bothered about at all playing in high up slots. Last thing I need is Jake Bugg taking a subheadliner position!

Think it will be 1 of 3....

Ellie Goulding

Faithless

Jake Bugg

Yeah, it 100% won't be Jake Bugg....he's not seen as big enough now for a start, his other positions show that.

I think the other two subs will be 3 out of RH, EG and Faithless. Couldn't call it really but I don't see Faithless not being there on a 2nd year of UK shows and touring around then. I think they hinted enough in the past at wanting to do it at least.

Why?

and why?

Jake Bugg isn't big enough anymore, there isn't the hype around him that there was from some places from his first two records, he's playing well down in comparison at V and TITP

I have questions over Faithless' credibility to play that high nowadays as well, it isn't impossible but I'd be very surprised if they booked them to sub in this day in age

Haven't really looked, but that suits me, he's certainly better on a smaller stage somewhere (if he plays). Suppose headlining the Other last time restricts that though.

who do u think then out of interest? Ellie?

I saw Jake Buggs sub set at Reading 14 and it was one of the dullest sets I've been too, complete opposite to him subbing the NME tent the year before. I just don't think he'd really suit a bit stage

The Pyramid swallowed him up and couple of years ago, JP header would be about right.

Why though? They are co-headlining V....I know it doesn't say a lot lol but are most likely subbing RHCPs at T too.

Ellie Goulding is possible, I think she's more likely to be on before Coldplay, I have doubts whether they'd finish the Saturday night with back to back female pop artists

They are on the same line of the V line up as Jess Glynne, Bastille and Tinie Tempah, none of whom would sub Glastonbury. I don't have any facts to back to up obviously, it's just my opinion

What you are missing here is though that Faithless are in bigger font and Bastille are playing 3rd down/subbing 2nd at lowest. It's no different to what T have got them in really.

Still think Noel is half a decent shout personally. Not that likely but he's free then, probably at the festival and might guest with Coldplay as well.

As far as I'm aware, the main booker hasn't changed in a very long time - it's still Martin Elbourne.

The major change in personnel last year was that the head of production (Dick Tee) left and took most of his staff with him, but I don't think that will have had much effect on booking policy.

Jake Buggs stock has fallen so much since 2014. James Bay and George Ezra have sort of taken his place in terms of "fashionable" young male singer songwriter. While not completely outside the realms of possibility, it would be pretty depressing if Bugg subs this year.

You don't think it might be more the fact that they appeal to a similar audience of Radio 1 listeners and X-factor viewers? Their music is different but they both appeal to a very similar audience. Possibly as similar as Ellie Goulding and Coldplay if not more.

Muse and Coldplay have both headlined Radio 1s Big Weekend.

I was trying to think of a good sub headliner, I think Missy Elliot would be perfect

That would be an interesting booking. I think she'd cost way too much though, going by what Rob Da Bank said about getting her to headline Bestival last year.

I think it'll be Macklemore & Ryan Lewis, as they've got a lot of festival dates lined up but nothing for the UK so far. They're not really much cop but I could see them putting on a fun warm up show kinda thing.

Last year was different partly to do with all he headliner hassles. Who and Weller were a late  booking package deal it seemed.

Florence was supposed to sub Foos and they are different.

Persoanally I hink Pharrell and Kanye are different at the same time as being the same, as in shit.

Along with a large number of glastonbury headliners, doesn't really mean much.

I still enjoyed it and they did well to wrap everything up but the inexplicable lack of budget for the final season really stood out for me.
