Yep, the latest charts seem to show again a fairly dry festival Fri - Sun with temps in 18-20. The only downer is that there is still quite a bit of rain through next week to the Thurs but they seem showery so with luck (and we'll need it) the site can miss the worst of those. Still all to play for but only a fool would go without wellies/good boots and a waterproof.

What forecasts are you looking at, out of curiosity?  Apart from rain tomorrow night into Monday morning, I'm not seeing much...?

The glade just said on facebook the site resembles "20000 leagues under the sea"

The person posting for Glade isn't actually on site yet. They're referring to the videos we've all been fretting over.

Chill. It'll be fine

Oh my.

Even the Met Office and BBC have now removed all reference to rain from Weds. Could we, dare I say it, have a completely dry but not too hot (aka the best weather imaginable) Glasto 2016?

*goes off to the Nal for a slap*

Ah, OK - I have much the same approach to weather charts!   Just about OK interpreting them for wind (I windsurf, so get very obsessed with low pressure systems most of the year) but when it comes to precipitation, no clue.

A member of my group will be taking a 3 year old and a 9 month old which obviously makes things a bit trickier.  I showed her some of the vids.  Her reaction was "Haha! Seen it worse!" ('05 and '07 veteran) and then went on about the fun of welly-sucking mud and how pretty the watery stuff can be.

Unless you were actually there in 1985 you have NO idea .

Looking at the charts, I have not been this confident from the weekend before a festival since I can remember. I get there Thursday though. Even if it does bucket it down tomorrow evening I am sure it will be dry/ sit down on Pyramid grass by Thursday. In fact I am willing to bet on it...

Not near Newbury - not a big fan of lakes! :)  South coast - Hayling Island, Hill Head, sometimes down Dorset way and once in a blue moon over to Wales.

I was there in 1985 and it was dire. What made it worse back in those days was that cars and tents were in the same fields, which meant that escape was impossible.

Yep, 1985 was my first and definitely the worst in terms of weather. It barely stopped raining for 3 days. Not a dry spot to be found anywhere on site.

Basically it's going to be scorching hot the whole time, but the ground will be too muddy to sit down on, so we'll all be exhausted by Thursday evening.

Bring binbags. Multipurpose and can be used to park yr ass on the grass/possible mud.

    • Proper special gig tonight. They won't mean much to most people, but The Dogs D'Amour were one of the most significant bands of my youth.   Tyla, yer main man of said band, was playing in Birkenhead tonight. Not many there, but it was going fine. Then he decided he didn't like the smoke and the flashing lights so suggested moving the gig to the beer garden. Off we all went, and it was magical. Like having your favourite musician play in your garden. I absolutely loved it.   Before:     After:
