So November holds for me; Paul Simon, Dinosaur Jr, The Cure + The Twilight Sad. Excellent.

They've actually been really great since they came back, I Bet On Sky was brilliant, I got high hopes for this. If nothing else, they're pretty unbeatable as a live band.

after a few listens i really love that Wild Beasts song. definitely not what i was expecting from them, and i hope they return to the guitar driven stuff at some point in their career, but it's just insanely catchy. new album should be interesting. 'Boy King'. weird title. gutted they're not at the festival this year

What about the Lennon Claypool Delirium then. The audios on newtoob sound very much like whatsisname. Lennon that's it. Not that it's a bad thing.  I think the world needs it right now. Anyway the LP is out next week.

I've downloaded Modern Baseball's new album, because I live in infinite hope that proper emo will become a thing again. Will report back if it's any good.

Gold Pandas new album is getting some great reviews and his tour dates look promising.

christ i'd totally forgot that he had a new album on the way. he'd be a great addition, although you'd think he would've been announced with all the electronic stages

I would think the deal is it's Lennon doing vox and Claypool's spreading his seed all over the sound, as it seems he's doing from the audio. Should be cool though and I didn't realise the album was out soon so cheers!

Back to Venusaur Jr. for a minute; they're appearing on Jools Holland in, like, twenty minutes and debuting a new tune. Gonna wait for them to drop the studio cut later on because Later... is quite often bollocks for rock bands.

Unknown Mortal Orchestra (playing the festival this year!) dropping a new single 'First World Problem' tonight. No word on if this is for a new album or anything but it would seem very soon. Still, after how great that last album was I'm hyped regardless.

I don't want to be one of those 'I only like the old stuff' bores, but I don't think any band have ever disappointed me as much as Wild Beasts. First two albums are brilliant, as well as all the B-sides they released around that time. In fact, I think this is still their best song...

That new song pretty much confirms to me that they're just a mediocre synthpop band now. Shame.

Anyone else get sporadic weird mailing list type emails from Tim Smith - formerly of Midlake - with updates on how his HARP project is basically achieving fuck all in the way of releasable material?

this song is ace! looks to be a standalone but it's made me want to catch them at the festival even more, even though i'm highly anticipating having to miss them

new Strokes thing is a three song EP called Future Present Past. new single OBLIVIUS either has been played or will be played (different sources saying different things) on his radio show today

It was definitely played, I caught the second half of it on a periscope stream. Hard to tell how good it was really but it seemed alright and sounded exactly like what you'd expect from The Strokes.

Edit: https://www.dropbox.com/s/oxmnm0vibcm5don/Oblivious (sirius XM premiere).m4a?dl=0 here it is until there's a better version online

New Dinosaur Jr sounds very much like Dinosaur Jr

Pretty much the pinnacle of guitar bands.

Also a new Todd Terje EP is out there for those who care to look. Bunch of disco covers + remixes

    • Not necessarily but it should be, Download have a habit of messing it uo when others get the bookings on point. Good Charlotte I doubt are playing 3rd down and that too 3 that day while dreamy is too strong. I think you'd have one another day to help sell weekend tickets. I also doubt Papa Roach play.
    • Here's a bit of a wild stab, few placings may be off, and for all I know half of these won't actually be touring next year, but screw it, it's a bit of fun   Pyramid: Sabrina Carpenter, Phoebe Bridgers, TBA (Florence + The Machine), Garbage, The Last Dinner Party, Interpol, Alex James Britpop Classical Other: Chase & Status, Teddy Swims, Clairo, The Kooks, Zara Larsson, Kingfishr, Sports Team, Orbital West Holts: Robyn, Baby Keem, De La Soul, Deltron 3030, JID, Dua Saleh, kwn, Daniela Latila Woodsies: Bonobo, Darkside, TBA (Tame Impala), Laufey, Warmduscher, Wednesday, The Lottery Winners, The Royston Club, Florence Road Park: Patti Smith, Super Furry Animals, Slayyyter, The Cardigans, Skye Newman, Kelly Lee Owens, Teen Jesus & The Jean Teasers   Pyramid: Harry Styles, The xx, Richard Ashcroft, The Pogues, Jessie J, Sigrid, Travis Other: Rosalia, Sombr, Mitski, Alex Warren, Holly Humberstone, Cat Burns, Pale Waves, Yard Act West Holts: Basement Jaxx, Elyanna, Clipse, L’Imperatrice, Nation of Language, Jim Legxacy, Yazmin Lacey, RIP Magic Woodsies: Suede, Chvrches, Bleachers, MUNA, The Cribs, Keo, Bleech 9:3, The Lilacs Park: MARINA, Magdalena Bay, Jacob Alon, TBA (Lily Allen performs West End Girl), Getdown Services, Isaac Wood, Snail Mail, Madra Salach Pyramid: Sam Fender, Hozier, David Byrne, Cher, Obongjayar, David Gray, Billy Ocean Other: Doja Cat, Deftones, Addison Rae, Ren, Viagra Boys, Maisie Peters, The Reytons, Hard Life West Holts: Kano, Thievery Corporation, Angine De Poitrine, Thee Sacred Souls, Brooke Combe, Sasha Keable, Master Peace Woodsies: The Wombats, Metronomy, Geese*, Dry Cleaning, EsDeeKid, Sienna Spiro, Cowboy Hunters, Radio Free Alice Park: Big Thief, Laura Marling, MJ Lenderman, Richard Dawson, Oklou, Maruja, Dead Dads Club, Ratboys   *There's always one band booked for Woodsies that ends up being massively under-billed and gets shut down really early. They'd be better off playing somewhere like Other sub, but I could see the G getting them to play a smaller stage while it's still possible
    • Another Kraftwerk one for me today, as just back from seeing them.
    • Completed my 2026 survey. Put down Super Furry Animals as my most wanted for next year but suspect the moment has gone for that. Popped a big shopping list in the box for who else you would like to see. 🙂
