Muse were penciled in

Thom phones saying we want to headline and not do another secret set

Em rings Matt asking if they want to do secret set to open other stage, he's like why not, leaving Radiohead to headline. Simple as that...

Neil's info was that Muse will play the Pyramid but not headline, so i definitely don't think they'll be opening Other - as good as it'd be having an act of that size taking such a slot, they're miles bigger than anybody who's done it before. where Muse will fit in though is another thing, unless they've for some reason agreed to sub, or if there'll be some 'special guest' slot a-la The Libertines last year which will be filled by them (i guess it could be something the festival liked the response to and so will be trying to repeat in the future)

Thing is, the beauty of that was the majority of people didn't know until on the day really. Okay, they were obviously booked much, much later, but if they're trying to repeat that and we've already found out... they've sorta failed.

yeah i know it wouldn't really have the same effect and the circumstances of that were what made it so great, but it makes more sense to me than Muse being announced for a lower slot on the Pyramid

Wow. Id never heard this before you posted. It would have been completely bizarre showing up on Amnesiac but it ent half bad.

It sounds like how I imagine Coldplay sound in Chris Martins head.

Yeah, I really like it, I'd never looked at it the way you described, but I kinda get it, cica viva la vida.

You do realise that that was arranged due to Foo breaking his leg rather than as some sort of surprise treat for everyone?

and them being able to draft in The Libertines so late was what was great about it - just spitballing that they may replicate having a huge secret act on the Pyramid after that last time went down so well if they've got an act willing to do it

Long time lurker and very sporadic poster, thought I'd chip in as I heard something I believe's genuine. A mate of mine knows someone involved in Bastille, and they've said that Bastille are subbing the other stage on Friday with Disclosure headlining.  If that's true then I guess a potential LCD/Radiohead clash is less likely (but may also mean LCD are less likely to play..). I'm not sure how much info bands get about the rest of the line-up but I guess it makes some sense they're told who's on before and after them.

Anyway, I know it's a shitty 'friend of a friend' story but thought I'd pass on the info.

definitely sounds possible, and hopefully means that LCD are either Radiohead's sub or are headlining Other another night rather than not being there at all (starting to have my doubts over the BMTH stuff). still doesn't confirm Radiohead as playing, but for now i'm just gonna assume they're the Friday headliner

I was assuming that BMTH were pretty much TBC?

they've been pretty vague, and their touring schedule means that coming to Glastonbury would be pretty hectic for them (though not impossible). it may well happen, but i refuse to believe that LCD aren't gonna be there. if this Disclosure/Bastille info is true i guess i've just got to hope that LCD are Radiohead's sub (which would be the best sub/headliner combo ever for me personally)

But then its not really the same thing and won't be as secret. The beauty of the Libertines, was that even people who knew were not 100% sure it was happening. If its booked in advanced, things get leaked out (like the park sets..). Even the time changes were done on the day weren't they? (Or at least during the festival)

them playing seems likely from their hints on twitter and saying in an interview about wanting to try some new festivals (or some words like that).

them headlining the Other stage is complete guesswork from some people on here.

Maybe John Peel? Are they too big for that? Are they much bigger than Enter Shikari who headlined the John Peel last year? I really wasn't aware they had grown so much from their early days so can't really gauge their popularity and/or Glastonbury stage positioning?

Too big for that.

They're probably being looked at to headline Download or R&L next year, headlining the Other stage is a good stepping stone towards that.

they're bigger than ES so too big for JP.

Other sub seems more likely to me, I don't think there's enough of an audience for them at Glastonbury to justify Other headliners.

I call this segment "My Fair Amy Lawn", in which the gentry of efests attempts to override my common as muck music tastes with some refined and respectable bands. Today I went to the shop and bought two CDs, I'm going to listen to them and report back on whether not I can convincingly say "The In Rainbows in Spain falls mainly on Kid A".
