So there's a fair chance rumours about some bands headlining might filter through when in fact they're doing next year.

 

Given that Radiohead will likely be touring this autumn in Europe and may well do Asia/South America next year (no specific rumours there, just following on from what would be expected), a headline performance next year once they've honed their live show and their album is more firmly embedded in fans minds might be what they have planned...

I think it'll just as possible they'll play this year, do an arena tour at the end of the year and maybe other UK festivals like Reading and Leeds next but who knows.

They're headlining Summer Sonic in Japan at the end of August this year, so it looks like they're going to Asia for Autumn. Rules them out for R&L but still not Bestival.

Chemical brothers headlined Summer sonic and bestival last year... and also played glastonbury

Got excited when I got a tweet notification but then realised it was the Japanese festival.

Must be close to announcing an album and a UK date now

Nah they could still do R+L the weekend after but it's unlikely anyway. They're rumoured to be doing Electric Picnic though so that'll bring them back to Europe and stuff. I don't think Chemical Brothers playing both Bestival and Glasto is relevant really as they headlined the Other Stage which Radiohead obviously wouldn't be doing.

The album, yeah. Not sure if we'll get a UK date as we had to wait for their arena shows last time, and this time could well be the same as they're mostly doing festivals in the same places as last time so far. We'll wait and see though - I'm hoping for some non-festival UK dates before or during summer anyway.

I very much doubt they'll do Electric Picnic, and I haven't heard any remotely credible rumours about it happening other than wishful thinking.

the fact that they're all over Europe in June/July, then heading out to the US and Japan in August doesn't make me think they'll come back to play in Ireland on the first weekend in September.

Fair enough, but they're only meant to be doing four US festivals according to COS_Alex and those are all between the last weekend in July and second weekend in August, and I can't imagine them touring the shit out of south-east Asia so they probably will be back around the end of August but we'll have to wait and see if that means festivals.

If the rumor of an end of year UK tour is true then them playing electric picnic makes sense but yeah it's up in the air at the moment.

Incidently Primavera didn't announce any headliners early this year and Glastonbury and Electric Picnic have yet to announce anything, could this be to do with them all waiting on Radiohead to confirm their plans?

Well if it is then they shouldn't have to wait much longer. A Radiohead announcement soon would be glorious.

Adele's tickets are all sold out and there's nothing to stop them announcing her early, so hopefully the lack of an early announcement suggests she isn't playing, or at least isn't tied up yet.

I can dig a Muse, Radiohead, Coldplay trio, in spite of Coldplay's presence.

So after telling myself I was over not getting Glastonbury tickets, and then getting up my hopes for Primavera (and promptly having them dashed by my employer's refusal to grant holiday during half term), I have just asked for the Glastonbury dates off. JUST IN CASE. They've been granted...

Primavera are a bit like Glastonbury in the sense that they want to do a poster reveal but if a headliner wishes to bring their announcement forward then they can. Although I think the specific date must have been at the will of Radiohead.

That's not how it works though is it? Foos sold all their dates out in November and didn't announce until February.

Definitely don't think they would replace Adele with Radiohead - particularly in the middle of those two as well. Would be a borderline parody of your average Glastonbury headliners with the 8th, 9th and 10th headline appearances between them. I would think Radiohead would come into play if one of the others (eg. Muse, as per Matt's findings) weren't playing.

Foos only sold out wembley I think,  sunderland and Manchester definitely had tickeys left

We were talking about how great 2015 was, if I was going in 2016 etc. and eventually got on to the topic of headliners. He asked me if I knew who was headlining and, as it seemed pretty certain at the time, I confidently said Adele and Coldplay, then sort of hesitated around Muse. His reply to that, seemingly clocking that I wasn't as sure about Muse as the other two was just 'Nope. Radiohead.' When I questioned him on it he didn't seem to want to go into anymore detail and was just like 'Trust me mate'. He was confident but wouldn't offer anything else up. I didn't totally believe him at the time but I did go and tell some people I have from here on Facebook as I thought it might be of interest. Now we've had these announcements this morning its got me thinking he might know something. 

I'm obviously not massively convinced by it myself - I certainly didn't have enough confidence in it at the time to post on here and I sort of forgot about it until the rumours of them doing some US fests began (and at that time I thought of posting something similar to this but again decided against it). I reckon IOW might be more likely, but if the straw clutchers want something to clutch...

doubt it, Electric Picnic usually doesn't announce its initial lineup/headliners until March/April.

Foals are very likely to be one of them.

Maybe a Jeff Buckley inspired theme, Coldplay probably less so (although Shiver always reminded me a lot of Grace)
