I'm not sure I like a lot of the smug, self righteous commentary here in this thread. Gatecrashing was a fact of life once upon a time at Glastonbury, and in the heat of the moment, when we are young we all get a bit over exited in such scenarios. Any violence in the videos was down to maybe half a dozen people, the rest were no different to me or you in a ticket-less situation when good shit was just out of reach. It is good that people care enough about music, about something, to form a mob and act on it. The alternative is inaction and apathy.

 

Jessie J would have been another artist who missed Glastonbury if she had been booked, but lets be positive about Wireless for a moment...

 

I Love Jessie J, I wish she was here this year and implore GFL to book her in 2016. This is an exceptional show if you take the time to listen to it. A truly exceptional singer and songwriter who people want to scale fences for. Long live that.

And don't bother with yet more self righteous hating, it just don't wash, listen to this!

 

Bamber your ability to work Jessie J into any conversation is both impressive and hilarious. I reckon you could work it into the comments section under a story about ISIS.

have you missed that her career is now on a big slide? Gigs she'd have sold out a year ago are not selling.

 

Don't get me wrong, I cringe as much as the rest of you when she opens her gob between tracks, but when she starts singing some of those tunes what she wrote, I melt. She may never be as popular as she was once, but there will always be people like me who get it, so I'm afraid she ain't going away any time soon.....

 

....And that is a pretty large, enthusiastic crowd there at Wireless who agrees with me, and if they do ever book her again at Glastonbury, it will surprise you all how many show up.

My son was at Wireless all three days. He is 18, and this is the kind of stuff he can do with a group of mates - he eventually said no thanks to Glasto this year as he would have been stuck dragging around with his dad all weekend and the lure of a weekend in London with some friends was greater.

They had a blast. A group of lads over from little Norway able to see several bands that rarely if ever get to those parts, it was a big experience for them.

But he told me there was an edge to the atmosphere all weekend, it felt like it was never far from kicking off, and nothing like the festival experience I have described. He did two days at Lovebox last year which he felt was much different, and tells me he is far from sure he would go back to Wireless next year.

Apparently there was a lot of talk on site about the gate storming, although accounts at the time varied wildly, and that added to the edge. Not good.

I remember going when Daft Punk played Wireless with LCD next on the bill back in 2006 (?). That was on the legendary Alive tour. Shame to see it has slipped so far since then.

I was there.

And completely unexpectedly that was fucking AMAZING.

The only 'edge' to that - very different - Wireless was the bullying touts outside. Nearly got smacked for giving a spare ticket away and being sarcastic when threatened. Very stupid on my part.

I remember Glastonbury being like this with probably the same size fence. The only reason why it's not like it now is because the fence is too high and the panels are too strong

I quite like George Ezra, but if he is he only committing 50% of his potential then he is a lazy fuck. Jessie gives 110% most of the time, while this is highly commendable, it seems to disturb most of you.
