Long time since I've been a student, and certainly wouldn't turn my nose up at a gift of £3000. I wouldn't give up my Glastonbury ticket for that money though. It's not that I wouldn't mid the cash in my pocket, but 3grand is really not enough for me to sacrifice the holiday.

This thread is a useful reminder of how well GFL have done in making this discussion essentially meaningless by removing the secondary ticket market.

 

If there were a market then I suspect the figures would be pretty preposterous but no more than 4 figures. I'm glad we can't know for sure.

I haven't been before so if you ask me on Monday how much my ticket would be worth it'd probably fluctuate, but at the moment I'd probably take £600 my only logic being I'd take two festivals I.e. Reading and Download (or similar) and all my alcohol paid for over one Glastonbury but I'm saying that before I've been so like I said, ask me Monday!

I'd be in the £5,000 mark, but really if I sold it now for the £5,000 wouldn't make me happy as such, I'd spend the next 6 days depressed, then come Monday I'd cheer up with the money in the bank.

£500 is an odd amount as you will have spent close to that anyway. Added to the time off you have taken which is worth cash, Id guess you should have saved your money.

I couldnt have afforded this and other events without doing a lot of overtime this year.

Id want £5000 I think. I might take 4, but I have spent about £1500 worth of my overtime on Glastonbury and other events. Not including what I spend this weekend.

If I needed the money for something else I could have saved it.

Wow tough question. £10k would most probably have me. Whilst I have overdrafts, credit cards and mortgages the five days when I can switch off from modern life is worth a lot to me.

Glasto costs me the best part of a grand (ticket, spendies, extras, share of a tipi...), so if I wanted the money I wouldn't go.  It's my main holiday these days, so would prob take upwards of 5k.  Or (if it was a blank cheque) the remaining value of my mortgage...

Some silly sums of money being talked about here. Sums that could really make a doffernece to your life in the short to medium term or be used towards a long term investment e.g. a deposit on a house.

If someone was to pony up some of the sums talked about for my ticket here and I didn't take it I'd need sectioning.

I took the refund option at deadline date in the middle of May and bought a ticket for Fleetwood Mac next Wednesday followed by AC/DC on the Saturday at Wembley plus a 5 star hotel.

Not quite the Glastonbury experience that I have enjoyed over past 5 years but I hope the weather stays dry and you have a good time.

As I said earlier, Glastonbury is fantastic, but it isn't the be all and end all. People still have lives, mortgages, bills, kids etc outside of the fence that need seeing to. I'd take £5k, I'd be disappointed to be missing a year at the festival but would console myself knowing all my debts are paid off with enough left over for a very nice holiday somewhere and more than enough for next year's festival.

I was obviously exaggerating. I don't genuinely think people should die for wanting to sell their ticket for £500. Very sensitive bunch on here!

Although £500 still would be fucking pathetic seeing as the ticket cost/transport/drink etc etc would exceed that anyway.

Yeah, probably. This year will be my 10th but the weather really spoilt it for me that year. The only one I look back on and think badly of it.
