Or Sunderland. We know that Lauren Laverne will be at the festival, so obviously it has to be the return of Kenickie. Flawless logic.

Yes! Shut the thread, we've got it :D

Even when the next announcement is made am I right in thinking we won't find out who the opener is? Last year didn't they get announced a couple of days before?

They didn't get announced at all. With beady eye it was in the papers on the Wednesday of the festival. As fas as I know, there were no leaks that it would be kaiser Chiefs playing that slot last year, hence the sea of disappointed faces when they took to the stage.

Hehe that was like me at the Park for the radiohead gig. I thought it might have bern Pulp, so went up there. As soon as it clicked that it was those tuneless miserable bastards, i was fighting my way out of there against a tide of people flooding in.

Yeah doubt it's James, they've said a few times they haven't been asked to play, shame coz they'd rock it. Charlatans are a good shout. Really think it could be them..

did you feign illness so that security would come and rescue you?

I'd made my bed, I had to lie in it. After discovering I couldn't escape, I stared Gallagher squarely in the eye all the way through the show, with an unspoken yet clear message of "you're a nob mate, and you're shit".

not announcing the Charlatans in advance could surely only work in their favour.

Yeah that's my thinking, they've said they're playing, then deleted the tweets. Just seems strange they weren't announced on the poster.

Elton John throwing out a few 70s classics would be a great way to start the party but id guess noel!

Can take or leave Elton for the most part, but when The Circle Of Life drops, that's me done forever, arms in the air, bellowing along and weeping.

Never mind that, Can You Feel the Love Tonight would create a right mess if he ever played and sang that on a Sunday night with everyone feeling a little fragile. Followed up with something like Candle in the Wind and I would fear for people's lives.

    • Tonight was a disgrace. There wasn't *that* much rain, and it wasn’t *that* windy. A festival of this size should be able to withstand some adverse weather without it bringing the whole circus to a standstill. And if it is true that part of a speaker on the Revolut stage fell…   As for the communication - announcing Massive Attack were playing at 12:30 and then nothing for over an hour while people waited in the rain. It’s laughable it really is.   If I said I’ll never come back again I’d be lying. The shambles of Barcelona 2022 and the disgrace of Madrid 2023 didn’t stop me, so this probably won’t either.   This festival gets so much wrong, but it is always saved by having such killer line-ups. It’s just a shame it treats the fans/customers/consumers like animals. Compare it to somewhere like Glastonbury and it’s worlds apart.
    • Yeah, I admit that a small part of me felt relieved when they announced that MA are canceled.. But on the positive side- got to see Florence Road afterall, and they were great
    • Glad I could take the €3 bus to Playa Catalunya! Hope y'all warm and dry up.
