Cant help but feel if it wasnt for adeles popularity right now her music would be a really good fit for something like the acoustic stage or the glade, a more chilled out area. itll never happen though as can you imagine the crush?

Adele playing the Glade, sandwiched inbetween sets from Casetteboy vs DJ Rubbish and Dub Pistols...

Wtih the recent news I am hoping that

LCD headline other up against Muse as my Friday Headliner
Foals into Radiohead as my Saturday Headliner
EWF as my Sunday Headliner

yeah that would be my wishlist altho i could care less about foals!

LCD/Radiohead/E,W&F

The rest of the festival sorts itself if this happens!

On the 'bands' comment:

If that came from Michael I'd be incredibly suspicious, but I think Emily is more likely to choose her words carefully. If one of the headliners was a solo act, she could easily have said 'three British artists/acts'. I think it's very likely that by saying 'bands' she actually means bands. Adele isn't a band.

so not by playing the 2000 gig then presumably. It least it doesnt sound like a karaoke-type tribute anyway.

They're just going to show Lady Ga Ga's incredible Grammy's tribute as a loop on the Pyramid from Wednesday to Friday mornings.

Brilliant.

Just cannot get excited about the remaining Pyramid rumours this year.

I realise I am out of step with 99%of opinion on Radiohead's recent material but it's all bit emperors new clothes to me, I wish i was at their last headline show, I'd get excited about that. Muse, a band I quite like, but to have a second multi-repeat headliner is really poor, and I have seen them too many times.

Adele I think would actually be the edgiest of the favoured names, simply as she would be out of her comfort zone and the performance could go either way, triumph or disaster.

Pleased about the PJ Harvey announcement, intrigued by the BMTH announcement and the New Order rumour too. Think it maybe a strong year for The Other stage this year, only saw Ronson, Turner and the Chems there last year.

Still if Earth Wind and Fire do the sunday on West Holts I shall be over the moon!

Regardless of my indifference to the Pyramid prospects it's nice to have some fizz injected to the debate and speculation.

The King of Limbs is OK, not their best.

But given that In Rainbows is 'recent', in terms of their output, Emperor's new clothes? The band have been in Saville frickin' Row!

:)

Can you really call an album that was released 9 years ago 'recent' ?

I realise I am in the minority opinon, just not to my taste that's all.

Granted Rainbows is the one recent album that represents the Radiohead that I like. Just not into Kid A, Amnesiac, TKOL etc. That is just me however.

It's obvious that RH would be an amazing choice for many and for them I'd be delighted.

Nah. You're over-thinking it. Saying 'bands' is the default, as much with Emily as anyone else.

She also said last night that PJ Harvey last played in 1994 (it was 2004). Also worth bearing in mind that the Metro article was published before the NME Awards was even finished last night, so may not have been a direct quote given it was rushed through.

Well that was my point, th - despite the time gap, surely it's not unreasonable to describe a band's last-but-one album as recent?!

Ben

I suppose its not unreasonable but i have a thing in my head where recent means within the last 4 years.....i dont know why its 4 but it is and anything that is 4 years or older isnt recent

I'm going to give Emily the benefit of the doubt and take on her on word.

Because after all...that would likely mean Radiohead and I need me some straws! :P

Talking of over-thinking, I've got a question. If Adele talks didn't come to fruition since the start of the year or so and Radiohead joined the party, would they have shuffled the pack for the days or is it way too late for that? Radiohead on the Saturday while two much bigger bands for the TV audience play either side seems a bit odd.

You fucking horrible man. After what Beth gave you at glastonbury you'd just drop her like that. Arsehole. Go and buy yourself a pair of hunter wellies. You belong with that crowd now! :-)

well only because they dont offer any new music. Even leonard cohen has released 2 albums since they did, and he's in his 80s!

the line-ups are always pretty fluid with their placings until everyone's in place - tho of course some bands are gig-free to be able to switch their day, while other bands are not.

Anyone know which bookies are taking bets for headliners?

Can't find one atm?

Don't think there's anything open at the moment, and what with rumours and leaks coming out so frequently at the moment I doubt they'll reopen any time soon

    • I read the Kerrang review and they didn’t seem overly positive. The definition of a 6 out of 10.
    • Interesting the stat guys say 3 points and -3 goal difference is where it gets to 50/50 territory in terms of going to the last 32. If Scotland lose their last 2 at best they are on -1, play like they did yesterday and they could take a heavy loss.   However thinking about it positively get 4 points from the last 2 games and the group is won! Have heard a few saying Scotland should just park the bus next 2 games, but not sure they have the players to do it. From my perspective they could really do with a decent defensive midfielder to add balance, but not sure if they have one in the squad. They also need significantly more from Mctominay who I thought was poor, but understand he has been unwell.
    • Yup and they aren't all going to get them, some are going to miss out. Speaking of this, I met someone at RIP who went to RFP and his view was band wise it's value for money but it wasn't a festival itself he'd be rushing to return to. In fairness as well he probably liked more of the headliners there than me this year whereas I was more undercard and he wasn't returning.
    • Maybe Starmer's legacy will be a war with Russia.
