So no announcement this morning, either.

I know @eFestivals said something about an announcement possibly being linked to the BRITs (which would obviously likely be Adele). Would be interesting to know if this was linked to the info you said made her almost TBC? Or was the BRITs thing just a guess on your part rather than info from a source?

Was just a guess wasn't it? Due to the announcement being within the two weeks and Adele clearly going to clean up there

the Brits thing was a guess based on what Emily had said about when the next announcement was coming.

Going on what she said, does that mean we will get another announcement next week? She said within two weeks. So, it's either going to be today/Friday or next week.

I'm happy knowing there is something coming within the next 7 days.

Yeah within the next week it is, although I'd be surprised if it's anybody but Adele - I'm sure their announcement will mention her being fresh from the Brits etc

Are you still as happy knowing that its more than likely one of Adele and Muse?

Amazed if it is Adele that Glastonbury didn't use last night to announce her.

Would have been great publicity with the 4 Brit awards.

Wondering if it is Adele to be announced next now

I don't think Glastonbury would ever purposefully attach themselves to the Brits. If Adele chose to announce there then fair enough (although her yelling 'and I'm playing Glastonbury!' always seemed unlikely) but I doubt an official announcement would be made there

I'd say neither Glastonbury nor Adele need to piggyback on another event such as The Brits. It'll be a colossal announcement in its own right. Why share it?

I know Adele has that vibe of being your drunk mate who happens to be famous, but she still has publicists etc. If they want to maximise her exposure, waiting a couple of weeks to when the buzz from the Brits has died down, THEN announcing Glastonbury would be the best bet. If The Eavis's asked her politely to have the impact themselves, then they too would wait till the Brits stuff has died down.

£8. And New Order headlined. (Wikipedia). Shall we start a petition? (Joke. I like New Order).

Good info, thanks. This means New Order headlined a few months before they even put out their debut album. They only played 8 songs as well. Surely they can't have been headlining?

Edit: Think they played before Hawkwind, blimey.

Looks like you're right, and Wikipedia wrong. They subbed Hawkwind on the Saturday, with Ginger Baker and Taj Mahal the other headliners.

But they don't really need the publicity. Tickets are sold.  Its not like everyone is going to forget that she wins all the awards....

Rhianna on the other hand needs the publicity for those crappy ticket sales...I wonder how much difference a performance like last night really makes to sales....

I would expect people to phone up for refunds based on that performance!

By far the worst performance of the night for me. I think March is pretty much nailed for an announcement, hoping the T in the park lineup tonight will give us some more ideas.

Yup, you won't get a V announcement, T announcement and Glasto headliner announcment in the same week. Those other two want theirs to be talked about for a few days at least. It'll be anytime betweeb Tuesday Friday next week.

I doubt V and T have any more knowledge of when Glastonbury are announcing than we do to be honest.

because there's a law to stop them? Because they all collaborate around their announcements?

Or are you just making it up out of nothing?

That's not my point, Glasto would be announcing after they know V have done their big one and T have one today, they wouldn't do that.

Glasto will want nothing in the way of their announcement as they'll be shouting they got her from the rooftops lol. And if Reading announce tomorrow then they have a whole week for it to be flow lol....Reading could still announce on Monday as we have nothing indicating tomorrow....I said this last time as they literally dropped the tweet at the time lol.

I dunno, there's got to be a reason that no major festivals ever release announcements on the same day. If the festival organisers themselves don't know when I'd imagine the respective PR teams are aware of what other PR teams/companies are lining up.

I guess Glasto is different as they don't have to worry about selling tickets on the back of an announcement, so I'd imagine other festivals steer clear of Glasto announcements rather than vice versa.

    • Another one from Sheffield DocFest this weekend, Earth Wind & Fire docu, directed by Questlove. Sensational archive footage, contributions from band members, family, plus a lot of very big fans (Stevie, Lionel, Flea, the Obamas) and a warts n all assessment of the genius / flawed human being that was Maurice White. Also, I never realised he started out as a jazz drummer with Ramsay Lewis. Well worth a watch.
