I was in my local off license last week and enquired about Brothers festival pear in cans as I know they've stocked it recently. They currently don't order it in as it doesn't sell well in my area, however they've offered me a load of cans at cost price as long as I pay before they order them in! Benefits of living near an independent offys :-D

Anyone found any prosecco in cans yet?

Was ace when lidl did them, didn't find any last year sadly, had to settle for some bucks fizz cans from home bargains instead

This is looking favourite this year: http://www.homebargains.co.uk/products/7965-lamcello-perfectly-posh-perry-24-x-250ml-cans.aspx

I'm sure Aldi's amaretto doesn't have a very high percentage though. Possibly not worth it if you can get a higher percentage elsewhere for a bit more money.

Amaretto as a rule is rather low percentage about 20-25% even Disaronno is about that.

Fact: Disaronno is not technically Amaretto - they market it as 'almond flavoured' - it contains no Almonds whatsoever.

are there any good cheap ale cans around from any of the majors (including aldi / lidl etc.) that you know of?

hoping for something above 4% that costs less than £1 a can...

Thwaites Golden Ale £3.99 per can in BM. Recommended earlier in the thread (or in the real ale thread), tested warm and passed with flying colours.

I'm flying down this year. I've seen that you can buy bottles of Smirnoff in plastic containers at Duty Free shops. Does anyone know of any other brands of spirits that sell the same? Would come in incredibly handy.

ASDA have a 35cl "eco pouch" (think Capri-sun) of Vodka for £7.00. Got two of these and two of the rum pouches (which don't seem to be on the site anymore) last year and they were fantastic. It's your fairly standard spirits but they're much easier to carry around with you as you don't have to worry about big bottles or glass, they're light and you just squeeze out a bit of party juice when you need it. I recommend grabbing some if you can. Bit pricey though, so alternatively you could grab yourself a flexible water bottle off AliExpress or something and fill it yourself with a spirit of your choice.

Savers/Home Bargains have cocktails/perry in a can. The perry is 49p for 250ml and is 7%. I thought it might be a nice alternative for non-lager drinkers. It also tastes OK warm and even better with a splash of blackcurrant cordial.

I plan on getting a few of the cocktails too, they range in price from 49-99p. I figured the small size will mean they can be crammed my rucksack easier. On another note I experimented with rhubarb and custard sweets in vodka. It tasted great although is deadly and will be decanted into small (very small) plastic bottles for the festival.

I'm a first timer going on the coach on my own and meeting friends there. I plan to buy plenty of cool cider on site and take mostly spirits and maybe 10 of the small cans. Please advise if I'm making some stupid mistake!

I'm going on the coach too and I'm abandoning cans completely this year. I don't really like lager that much and while I love a cold cider, drinking it all day just destroys me the next morning.

Spirits and boxed wine for me.

cans of Tanglefoot/Fursty Ferret are currently on offer in Waitrose. Two four-packs for a tenner. Not had a look elsewhere at costs but it's the only place I've spotted them in cans so may pick up a few this weekend

Sainsburys' sell both them in cans for £4 for pack of 4 so Waitrose not really a great offer tbh

Nice one, don't tend to go to Sainsburys and Waitrose is close to work, so I'll head Sainsburys instead

they have hobgoblin too in cans, few weeks ago they had a mix n match offer but can't remember the price...

I've been trying different stuff as all the lagers I like are bottles only, liking fursty ferret as a bit of a beer hybrid so shall be bringing some of these to Glasto me thinks ;)

http://offlicencenews.co.uk/news/fullstory.php/aid/14986/Thatchers_launches_craft_cider_as_it_heads_to_Glastonbury.html

Thatchers will sponsor the Glastonbury music festival for the second time from June 24-28.Thatchers Gold will be on tap in the festival’s bars, while the family-run business will also show off its oak aged ciders at four of its own craft cider bars around the site.

Martin Thatcher said: “We want our four new craft cider bars to give Festival-goers a real West Country welcome. Situated across different parts of Worthy Farm, there will be plenty of opportunity to experience the many different styles of Thatchers’ authentic Somerset cider.”

Sounds like Thatchers increasing their presence this year then!

This year I'll have a bit more money to spend than in previous years. I'd normally bring 4-5 crates of crappy lager and then drink them warm. This year however I'll probably bring 1 crate of brothers strawberry cider + some vodka and then buy the rest at the bars.

Used to drink strongbow at the festival but found by Saturday / Sunday it was so acidic it made my throat hurt.

Lesson to you all.

Thatchers gold however doesn't do this.

Any decent deals on Thatchers going around?

    • Never too early to start discussing next year’s headliners right?   I’m not attending this year so thought I’d get the ball rolling as I saw Weezer have a new album out in August I’d expect them to do this or Slam Dunk next year. I mean they’re probably too big for this however I think they’re niche enough that they would maybe do it, it just depends on if the fee is a bit out of range for trees.    It’ll be the 20th anniversary next year so I’d expect some throwbacks and hopefully some big headliners/acts. James has already said he’s made a mad booking that you wouldn’t guess & I think he mentioned that he’s spent something like 80% of this years budget of next years top line already on last weeks 2 promoters 1 pod (Don’t quote me on that).    I reckon they’ll try for and get at least two (not all) of the following - Enter Shikari, AFI, Weezer, Sex Pistols Feat Frank Carter, Frank Turner & The Sleeping Souls
    • for some reason last night watched series one of Prey on Netflix.   if Legends was written by Timmy Mallet (see above) then Prey seems to have been made by Mr Blobby.   why are all these British crime dramas so sh*t?
    • It'll be all over various Seatfillers based upon previous years at Sandringham
    • The Jayhawks 2026 UK Tour    Sept 15 – Brighton – Corn Exchange  Sept 16 – London – Electric Ballroom Sept 17 – Manchester – Academy 2 Sept 18 – Glasgow – The Garage    For you ‘americana’ lovers. They have a great song book.
    • Weezer just announced a new album & US tour so could add them to the headliner pool. Imagine they’ll do this or trees
