In today's Controversial Post of the Day, am I alone in not quite 'getting' FKA twigs? I like the idea of her record, style, production etc., but despite quite a lot of trying I just don't find her very...interesting.

I read reviews of her terrific live performances etc., but so far only see her as a little bit boring...

I personally think a handfull of her songs are absolutely amazing, but a whole album in one go is just too much and quite dull. I will be seeing her as people talk about her live shows so much though.

Also, they said top two acts, so maybe she is subbing with a visual spectacle.

The Weeknd is in the country and owes them a headline slot... can't see him being that visual though?

West Holts commented on their own Facebook post:

Spectacular as in spectacle - performances that go way beyond just the music and we're talking about the top two acts on each night...

Kiss!!!

I'm not a fan either.

The music is OK, but nowhere near matches the hype

So Beat Hotel this afternoon then?

What's it like after hours?

I was there for a while after Metallica last year apparently but don't remember.

I can imagine it's gets really crowded and it's not like there is a huge amount of space outside the building itself, more just a path from what I can recall

Not alone - FKA Twigs for me is another band that has recieved a rediculous amount of hype from the british press but her music isn't really anything special IMO.

I looked at a performance she did a The Mercury Lounge in NYC and it all seems a bit too choreographed for be if that makes sense. I know that she's a dancer and stuff but for me it all seems a bit fake and boring...

the beat hotel is lovely. lovely cocktails, lovely music, LOVELY. great place to take shelter when it's raining.

enjoyed some kind of icy cold beer based cocktail in there one afternoon last year and some decent grub from the annexe next to it. went one night late on and was too busy to be worthwhile.

Exciting times :D

Exciting indeed.

Can I just say that if anything I have ever said has personally hurt or upset you, if you feel I have overstepped bounds or pushed things too far then I deserve to be called out as a nasty little c**t.

Very pleased to see you back.

PS: If West Holts turns out to be Danny Boyle doing the olympic opening ceremony in lego form, I definitely called it.

Bear with me but how sure are we thay Mothership is Saturday? I know Neil had info but is it rock solid? Cos to me that fits the description of Sunday: something a bit different, a collaboration, could incorporate visuals.

George's booking agent (or someone like that) posted on Facebook that he was playing the Saturday. And surely The Mothership Returns suits the description of a "big party" better than anyone else on the lineup?

Yeah, I don't really get the FKA Twigs hype either.

Ditto. Feel I should like it, tried to enjoy it, failed. Ah well, at least that's one less clash to worry about.

What is the biggest size acts that you normally get on introducing?

Had Bombay Bicycle Club in a secret set last year on the saturday I believe, was pretty rammed though. Worth walking past around lunchtime and looking out for the chalkboards.

Had a big sign out the front letting you know, think they and Radio 1 tweeted it too.

    • Primavera refunding day tickets which are probably a negligible percentage of attendees yesterday.
    • Thursday day tickets being refunded. Fair play.
    • I’ve had a good sleep and I feel weirdly zen about the whole thing.   My first Primavera, so not the greatest first impression. I guess today couldn’t be any worse, right?   Thoroughly enjoyed Men I Trust and Geese. Cupra is a beautiful stage and the crowd seemed fun, friendly and engaged.   I think it probably could have gone even worse, considering how dangerous the crowding felt at times.   Anyway, we go again.
    • Brighton centre is a weird old venue for the Mary Wallopers - a great band, a really good live spectacle, and its a saturday night as well which sets it all up - but its at the bloody Centre? a charmless nonsense of a conference centre? Brighton dome is a ten min walk away and is so much nicer a place to see bands its ridiculous!    ah well, i'll probably mosy along anyways . . .
    • So bad honestly. I get that bad weather happens but their communication was non existent. When you're managing crowds of tens of thousands of people, it's just not good enough. I left when Massive Attack was cancelled (the first time) and it genuinely did feel unsafe trying to get out. No one knew what was going on, people still sitting in the ground when there were hoards of people trying to leave, no crowd management at all...   I've been to PS enough times to know sometimes you need to just roll with it but this was way worse than "the bar queue was 30 minutes long".    Today will be better but still feel super disappointed.
