Thanks for the credit BSR! :)

There may be more stuff pre-2008 but they changed TGF website & the old blogs aren't on the new site.

There is bits on Wayback Machine but will take some going through.

There doesn't seem to be any rhyme nor reason for the announcement which is just epic.

As much as I think damn I'd like the line up now the fact that it's all so secretive etc just makes the festival a whole lot cooler in my eyes!

Great work! Thanks for that..

So since 2009 the balance date has been later each year and the full lineup has been earlier each year? If they're kepeing to the same format that should mean we can expect the poster any day now, but that's been speculated on numerous threads already

Why no, thank you sir! I'll edit to use your eFests handle. I'm sure there is more info out there somewhere but I think this gives enough of a picture.

2009 was the first year of the deposit scheme.

2008 tickets were on sale in April with no deposit.

Any idea why it is taking so long?

The anticipation is enough and they've already sold out...

Nobody knows for sure...

...but there are close to 2000 pages of speculation, ranting and vitriol to read about it in the Headliner Thread, if you're free for the next fortnight!

:)

2004 - Pretty sure Macca and Oasis were known before tickets went on sale that year. Had to pull an all nighter to get tickets as see servers crashed, think this was the last year they put tickets on sale on a weekday evening too.

I got tickets at (something like) 8am having been up all night on my own trying on behalf of 5 other people.

    • Proper special gig tonight. They won't mean much to most people, but The Dogs D'Amour were one of the most significant bands of my youth.   Tyla, yer main man of said band, was playing in Birkenhead tonight. Not many there, but it was going fine. Then he decided he didn't like the smoke and the flashing lights so suggested moving the gig to the beer garden. Off we all went, and it was magical. Like having your favourite musician play in your garden. I absolutely loved it.   Before:     After:
