I find it strange how the lineup was announced so late when the festival didnt sell out? Like, did they just not mind about selling tickets in 04?

There doesn't seem to be any rhyme nor reason for the announcement which is just epic.

As much as I think damn I'd like the line up now the fact that it's all so secretive etc just makes the festival a whole lot cooler in my eyes!

I believe that's the case. Certainly sold out very quickly in 2004. I remember literally hours of F5'ing...

2009 was the first year of the deposit scheme.

2008 tickets were on sale in April with no deposit.

2004 - Pretty sure Macca and Oasis were known before tickets went on sale that year. Had to pull an all nighter to get tickets as see servers crashed, think this was the last year they put tickets on sale on a weekday evening too.

I got tickets at (something like) 8am having been up all night on my own trying on behalf of 5 other people.
