The Stone Roses

Cheers mate. The thought of having a seat high up in one of the stands and a massive bar q is puting me off and pushing me towards the T idea. Good point about the Roses crowd and bars. Glasgow Green was as bad as Heaton.

Ah all my experiences are from the general admission bit - i dont think the bar queues would be so bad in the tiers (though yeah the view would be terrible

And to whoever said the bar was empty during Roses, didnt they run out of beer?

All this negativity around PiL shocks me. They were awesome on the Other stage a couple of years ago.

I'm a fan, but at Finsbury park they were deffo not having a lark. John had a really bad day - banged on about being at home.

And, as for the crowd around me - daft as brushes - off their tits and covered in piss - having a whale of a time.

You'd hope so but some very accurate punches seem to go in at stone roses/courteeners etc gigs. and the bottles always hit someone, and its never another "lad" from what ive seen....

The only time I have been hit with a bottle / can was at Glastonbury, during Queens of the Stone age. The person in front of me had a flare. He Was on shoulders of his mate during "Go with the Flow"..

Some cockend threw a full can at him so he would get down, well it smashed me full on in the back of the head.

Great. My favourite Queen's song too.

When I saw QOTSA in Glasgow, an ~60 year old man grabbed my neck from behind, spun me round and punched me in the face. Assumed I'd done something to piss him off, but then he barged past me and started doing the same to several other people in front of me. Was very strange.

Clowns. Remembering the atmosphere of that day I'm having second thoughts - a stadium is much more enclosed and therefore coked up angry people will get more agitated....

I'd just got served when everyone started helping themselves, was gutted. It wasn't aggressive in the slightest and the bar staff didn't look arsed.

Great atmosphere that night

Can't believe I'm doing this, but after looking at the Manchester hotel price hikes, and taking into account the total costs, I've decided to take the massive risk of doing TITP. If you had of asked me a day or two ago I would never have thought of it. I looked on Monday at hotel prices when the gigs were announced and they were all cheap. Looked back last night and the same hotels are now charging £140 just because of the gigs. I know I'm letting myself in for a possible horrific lineup as well as a load of absolute arseholes like. I'm just praying that Mumford and The Killers are kept away, or at least New Order headline the King Tuts.

I did look into buying a day ticket for the Friday but overall that would end up costing me more than Manchester. A train to Scotland and back, £100ish for the ticket, spending money, and a hotel for the night. I know people going for the weekend so I can probably get a lift there and back, £210 for the ticket then its just beer money.  Probably only cost me £200 more for the whole weekend.

honestly if anyone is looking at hotels there will be plenty - a quick tram ride away and there'll be loads that won't have put their prices right up

Why don't people ever get on there and book hotel rooms as soon as they hear about the dates, even I did think for that weekend expected just in case knowing that I probably won't go. £197 for Thurs to Sunday mind.

Last time for Heaton and Finsbury as well I did it as well, did it as soon as I knew the dates. £60 and £70 respectively for the rooms. A tad awkward sharing a lift with someone who paid £140.

I am aware I can get a decent price hotel on the outskirts. To be honest I just couldnt resist a festival for only a couple of hundred quid more with everything taken into account where I get to see the Roses still. £200 for Manchester or not much more than £400 for T was too tempting after missing out on Glastonbury tickets.

I`m going to go with the T option as well mate but just wanted to point out that you could take a punt on a Sunday night hotel in Manchester and potentially save a bit but you would need to get it booked within the hour !
