At the moment there are only 3 sites I can find that currently forecast rainfall for the whole festival. Eventually that will reach 12+.

With every passing day, we become more and more fucked. Every year.

Awaiting JACKONE's latest missive with some interest.

Could be a while. Hes busy at the moment.

Plea to Pedmills not to let all the people who can't / won't understand the graphs dissuade you from updating them and posting them. Ta x

Agreed. This thread needs all the science and data it can get to counteract all the hysteria (including my own). Lots of love to Pedmills.

As long as it's dry long enough for everyone to get their tents up that will be fine :)

Forecasts showing it mainly dry at the mo so that will do for me...

I'd rather have a short shower while I'm putting up the tent than non stop torrential rain Friday to Sunday.

I wouldn't want the inside of my tent getting wet over anything. I can waterproof up the rest of the time, but not having a dry tent is a nightmare situation.

That forecast looks good to me, very light rain, dry most of festival. I forecast that the forecasts will improve even more till about ten days from the gates opening then very rapidly go downhill....Still have the time of my life though same as every other year.

Do it faster! I put my inner up first tent in the rain in 2011 and it was ok, but it was only a 4 man dome tent. It will dry up nicely when the sun comes out in the afternoon anyway.

Being a lazy person, I tend to not remove the inner from the outer when I pack up my tent after fests. The plus side is that the inner shouldn't get wet when it comes out the bag again!

Loving all the positivity in this thread, must be a good sign :) I remember back in 2010 that 'unsettled' was the forecast until right before the festival, so just shows how much it can change!

Rather it didn't rain Wednesday morning - it's just so makes life so much easier and I'd rather it didn't rain at another other time of the fest just because..

I don't understand how 2011 is so low on Pedmills chart, I would have though it was well above 2009 and not far from 2014

I totally agree but the two websites I could find that gave historical rainfall amounts for 2011 gave 9mm and 11mm.

Some possible explanations I can think of are:

  • 2009's rain was in one big storm whereas 2011 was spread out,
  • there was a lot of rain before 2011 so the ground very quickly turned to mud,
  • this is rainfall recorded in Yeovilton not Worthy Farm,
  • the figures are a complete load of bollocks

I remember quite a lot of rain in the queue in 2011, before getting in.

Fun times.

Most of the mud in 2011 was caused by rain in the weeks before the festival, there were videos posted on here in the weeks before that showed lots of standing water in the lower parts of the site. Although it rained for quite a long time on the Friday it wasn't that heavy and at other points there where only really showers, but all this was falling on already saturated ground, 2009 we only had a couple of short but berry heavy burst of rain which fell on very dry ground.

Is it only me that doesn't really remember years 08,09,11 and 13's weather very well?!

2010 obviously sticks out in my mind as does last year due to the mental storm.

The other years above though I'm very hazy over.

    • It was awful during Father John Misty and I was close to the front. People just shouting and laughing their f-ing heads off about nothing in particular and being louder than the bloody stage.
    • Other things I noted yesterday, away from the obvious…   Positives: - an extra water point towards the back left of the main stages has appeared, which I believe is new for this year (and was much needed) - handing out free ponchos was a good touch  - caroline were fantastic. I’d never been in the Auditori Rockdelux before, it’s a wonderful venue and a great venue if you fancy a more chilled out environment  Negatives: - the talkers. I know it’s always bad here (and most festivals nowadays) but f**k me people wouldn’t shut up yesterday. I wonder if it was partly as a result of people being at artists they had little interest in (due to rain limiting their options), although it wasn’t great during blood orange. We’ll be making an effort to get a spot nearer the front for anyone we particularly care about over the weekend  - not enough staff around (and the ones that are there are largely useless). Most other festivals have them everywhere and are happy to help
