Ello ello electronica/dance team!

As I got tickets in the resale this year I haven’t had half the time I usually do to explore the latenight lineup… so I’ve only got through 224 acts of the lineup so for (compared to 566 last year).

Me and my partner are very much into crossovers between UK Bass and Arabic rhythms - artists we were both excited about last year: Moktar, Deena Abdelwahed, Surusinghe (will def catch her this year), Hagop Tchaparian, Ahadadream (will see this year) & DJ Ritu. We also absolutely love Sevdaliza's Shabrang-era stuff if that's a good reference...

If anyone can give me a hand, I’m after some DJ recommendations, preferably (but not essentially) with their own material on spotify that fit into that UK Bass/Arabic sweet spot. Also open to Brazilian and South Asian rhythms if Arabic options are thin on the ground this year…

Thanks very much in advance, and thanks for keeping this thread active for so long, legends!

Hi @actionstations - and thanks for your post.

The stuff you're looking for is well out of my areas of, ahem, expertise 🤪, but I have no doubt the the magnificent E/D hive mind will come good as always and point you towards potential sets.

It's been a long wait, hasn't it, team? But, we're on the home straight now. I can't see the whole shebang dropping later than Tuesday of next week (acknowledging that TINP, of course...). I'm working on Tuesday night, but will dedicate as much of Wednesday as possible (assuming I'm correct on the date...) to painstakingly curating my four nights at what is the best place I've ever been to for raves on that many sequential days. There's nothing quite like enjoying bands all day, in the certain knowledge that when that ends it only marks the start of another full session of amazing times. Then to bed for a few, short hours and up to do it all again. And again...

Would really like to target IICON this year for the few absolutely top line sets - and hey, Blawan, you really owe us a set that almost blows IICON's (big) head off...

Just cannot wait to see people in here posting their dance plans for each day.

Not many sleeps now.

Ben x

Morning all, after some insights please on the line up as I'm a bit out of touch these days. I'm an old trance head from the early 2000s and whilst there is clearly none of that on the line-up I'm curious if there is any psytrance (think that has died since the glade stopped catering for it) or anything melodic but slower paced like anjunadeep. Any recommendations most welcome.

Following this as I’m in the same boat as you- old trance head from the late 90s/early 00s, but out of touch with the current names!

think there’s some ambient/chill out stuff up at the Tree stage beside Woodsies, but grateful for any other (more dancey) recommendations.

Although it's doubtful you'll get any Lange/Matt Darey style trance anywhere, you might a hi-energy fix from Romy's b2b with Haai.

What a golden age of electronica, 1998-2000 was, particularly for trance. Those Gatecrasher/Godskitchen/Cream days and nights were spectacular. I was listening to Sasha's Essential Mix from NYE 1999 the other day. I miss those times.

Anyway, I digress. Our resident psy-trance pusher is none other than the Captain, @bennyhana22. He'll steer you in the right direction. If there's anything about, he's your guy.

I'm a big Anjunadeep man, but there's not a great deal of their brand of melodic house/techno on the bill at the moment, sadly. Ben Böhmer went down a storm in 2023, too. Adriatique on The Levels will be just what you're looking for, although they're b2b with Carlita, which is a strange one.

Fingers crossed, we'll get some additions that tick your boxes this week.

We saw Matt Darey at Glasto in 2011, he played the old Dance East (I think, could have been West) at something ridiculously early like midday.

Got ourselves all excited about a classic trance set, spent the morning drinking limoncello and listening to classic Gatecrasher albums.

Needless to say, it was fairly empty and he played barely any classics!

Yeah those late 90s early 2000s were amazing, the golden age indeed. I'm considering Luminosity next year since it's the fallow year and it's on the same weekend as the G. Agreed, Bohmer in 2023 was amazing Indeed, one of the highlights of the festival (was hoping for a return this year).  I have Romy on my list so planning to catch her, will have a look at Adriatique.

I looked at Luminosity as a Glastonbury substitute for this year until I got a last minute work place. You are rolling the dice a little with the weather and location though. Netherlands in late June on a beach! If it were in Spain or Malta it might be a little more appealing!

True, although I don't think I've ever watched a video from it where it's raining!

Every year this topic pops up on this thread, a lack of classic trance and hard trance. Is there a need for an E-Fest trance takeover. Find one of the smaller stages and host a millennial rave one night with a few classic DJs, all the classic tunes, and encourage everyone to dust off their cyber gear and glow sticks and proper ‘ave it!!

I'd argue that this year we have more variety across the electronic spectrum than we've had in a little while but there are still a few genres that are underrepresented. Trance is one.

Hi @Dave_c

Psytrance...well...!

The only potential psytrance set I might have rooted out so far is...on the Lizard Stage 😆. IIRC, Liquid Ross was one of, if not the, last DJs to play psytrance on Glade Dome in the days before Glastonbury decided that we just couldn't survive without more cheesy jump-up, make some noise DnB, and scrapped it 😆. And that set was superb.

Anyway, it seems inconceivable that he would be playing beautiful 142bpm psytrance in the Green Fields, but who knows?! So I've DM'd him and will report back if he responds. Potentially good news then, except....he's listed on Lizard on the Sunday. And, desperate as I am for the return of psy to the Farm, I'm pretty sure that at that time I'll be knee-deep in glorious techno in The Temple.

As said, will update if/when I get more info!

Oh, and @nikkic - great little run of videos there, but you're being a bit of a monkey with KLO, as we've no indication that she's doing anything other than her Tree Stage ambient set, so the fab set above might not be managing expectations!

Playing San Remo (b2b with Daniel Avery).

(You made me double check, thought I’d made a huge error) 🤣

Oh, bollocks! Of course! Apologies, pal!

I had entirely erased that from my pre-pre-pre-list...as I can't stand San Remo 😆. Argh. That KLO set above now has me agonising over my self-imposed, lifetime San Remo ban 🤪

Just drop the line-up, Eavii, FFS!
