Have you heard and whispers about what the Beat Hotel folks have got lined up?

It's easy to get carried away with the dizzy heights of Block 9 which we all know and love, but having plucked out Avalon, Job Jobse etc in recent times, it's something I have a keen eye on as I feel the Beat Hotel could have been improved a lot

wasn't it beat hotel's last year in 2019 and it's changing to something different? I might have my wires mixed but i'm pretty sure it was ending and they haven't said much about its replacement that I've seen, though i will have a quick browse

I think it could be argued that one of who I'm alluding to is close to immortal, and the others not far off tbf. But no, not that banished tech-house waft outfit you mention.

UR? Not sure who's even in it at this point, but that'd be brilliant.

IIRC it will be the same crew that will run the new venue, but with a change of name and appearance, now that TBH has expanded to Marrakech etc.

Received wisdom seems to be that it will be the same, not the same, with a similar feel to the line up of the original.

I just can’t see it. In the Downlow? Make for a fucking mad crowd if so. Hopefully see someone in 110’s and Prosumers butchers apron gunfingering.

In fact fucking hell I hope it is.

I'd love to have prosumer back!

Well, don't just leave us hanging, @GrumpyRaver...!

Ben

I can't reveal who it is as they haven't signed on the dotted line yet, and they told me off the record.  Not a massive name, but a good solid booking.  Just wanted to give people a sign that it could be worthwhile sending some speculative social media messages to djs asking if they're playing...

IICON looked insane last year, but none of the music ever caught my attention and ended up walking past it most times.

Good to hear they going to improve on that end, the field could have handled a lot more crowd, just nothing on that people wanted to listen to really.

Just spotted Dekmantel finishes at 11 every night, whats the story with night time entertainment?

When I’ve been I’ve gone to De School, Shelter and De Marktkantine. It’s also Pride in Amsterdam city centre so we had a mooch about there one night was class. Dekmantel have an official afters at another venue I can’t remember the name of.

    • Another one from Sheffield DocFest this weekend, Earth Wind & Fire docu, directed by Questlove. Sensational archive footage, contributions from band members, family, plus a lot of very big fans (Stevie, Lionel, Flea, the Obamas) and a warts n all assessment of the genius / flawed human being that was Maurice White. Also, I never realised he started out as a jazz drummer with Ramsay Lewis. Well worth a watch.
    • In a 6,800-word Substack essay, external, the Clacton MP said "anti-white racism was embedded into the state", and that legislation aimed at equality was a form of "social cleansing"   .https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/articles/cdjkd4mp93zo   The privileged white c**t hasn’t got a clue what racism is.
    • BBC iPlayer: Will serve as the main hub for past sets, including both recent hits and iconic archival gems. You can explore the BBC iPlayer to watch curated compilations, "Best of Glastonbury" recaps, and on-demand replays of historic headline performances. [1, 2, 3] TV Broadcasts (BBC Two & BBC Three): The channels will air dedicated compilation shows. Leading up to the weekend, you can watch archive programming such as Glastonbury: 70s Legends, 80s Legends, and 90s Legends on BBC Two. [1] Radio & BBC Sounds: Pop-up Glastonbury radio stations on BBC Sounds will feature non-stop coverage, including exclusive mixes and huge sets from past years
    • Got HBO Max to watch football so watched One Battle After Another which is a great film and deserves its awards and then rewatched Magnolia and that is a flipping amazing film...so much in it. (also rewatching Angels In America series which is also amazing).
