Hey, might be true, but I do love these album releases (Kanye, Radiohead, Frank Ocean, Kendrick etc) where fans (me included, unfortunately) get caught up in theories and rabid speculation.

Just downloaded this for my train ride down to Bristol. GKMC is (imo) the greatest hip hop record of all time and Butterfly was an excellent follow up, however my expectations for this are fairly tempered so let's see how it goes.

Yeah I totally bought in to all that  and will definitely be jumping online Sunday morning to see if Damn pt.2 is out as well  it might be the one time being an obsessive fan pays off.

I was hoping it would get better than Humble, but that's definitely the high point. I mean it's by no means bad, just not what I expected

Pretty let down by this, it's alright I suppose but pretty understated. I'll give it a few more listens but not many tracks stand out, Humble, Duckworth and DNA my favourites so far.

Absolutely agree with that. Second half of the record really kicks it up a notch. The whole record is clearly below his best (hardly an insult), but the second half of the record gets much closer to his best work. Up until HUMBLE the record is actually pretty forgettable (initial impressions ofc).

He'll headline a major UK festival within the next 2 years without question. Hopefully it's Glastonbury in 2019.

I actually just listened to a bit of Kendrick, I'm far from a fan tbh but on Poetic Justice it could literally be Drake's song without him. 

Are Glasto going to book someone to headline with lyrics, Bitch Don't Kill My Vibe?

They have, you are correct so maybe not the best example but this being said it might add to why The Prodigy aren't doing the fest anymore now as certain lyrics aren't what the festival want.

Given that Kanye West headlined the year before last I don't think this argument has any substance at all. Glasto may be more family friendly than ever before but I really can't see any real evidence of bad language/casual sexism being a barrier to booking anyone if they're big enough

Being a bit of a Prodigy fanboy I'd have to point out here that the term "Smack My Bitch Up" actually refers to going at something full on, rather than promoting violence against women

Not sure if I'm the only one but I'm all over this! The only one not clicking with me yet is LOVE. After the first few listens I would say it is just short of TPAB, but no shame in that.

It's a lot more hip hop than tpab but it still has a theme through it. From what I can tell in the first track he gets shot and his life flashes before his eyes and he begins to think about key focuses in his life. His Dna, love , lust , loyalty , revenge ( xxx), pride . Finally coming back around full  circle on the last track he talks about the incredible true story of how lucky he was to get the break he did. And then it goes back to how unlucky this non famous version of him is to get shot. How life isn't always pre-ordained . 

Damn indeed . Not as grand as tpab or gkmc but stil incredible music and the album thst will get him to headline eventually as the beats go hard !!

Do you remember the Kanye shit storm?, and although I'm not with him like some as I wouldn't be but I'm not aware of him using bad language unless he chooses to being the cocktail that he is?

It can be termed as to get a woman high as well but yes it's not related to female violence at all.

well if they actually listened to the song and understood the context within the album and meaning, then yes.

if they ignorantly judged him/the song on the title, then probably not.

I'd like to think GFL are slightly above some Daily Mail style outrage over seeing the use of a word.
