If I wasn't to get a ticket I'd either spend the duration kipping in my van and surfing in some remote location (swell permitting) or go abroad for a week. The thought of being at home linked to the tsunami of coverage on TV, online and on the radio would drive me nuts,

Hopefully unlikely to happen as things stand. Things can change though.

(Having said that, I always ask myself if it is worth it? I work my butt off to do what I do there and don't get even my expenses paid. Every year there is a time a couple of weeks before the festival when I think why am I doing this?)

I'd hazard a guess that it's because seeing your work makes people happy, and that that in turn makes you happy. So, for a brief moment in time everybody's happy. We need more of what you do in that respect.

At the moment the prospect of not getting a ticket isn't bothering me as much as it usually does. But I know that when June came around I'd be gutted so I'd want to be abroad to avoid having to see it on TV etc and then I'd do another festival later in the summer, Boomtown and/or Bestival maybe.

I really fancy going to a festival abroad but due to the money and time off required I could probably only do that a year when I wasn't going to Glasto.

If I don't get a ticket (and I'm convinced my luck's run out) I will spend all the money on going to Latitude instead. I've wanted to go for years, but I just cannot afford to do both in the same year.

Im hopefully doing both next year. Lattitude will be a first as well. Glasto just with the wife and friends and then taking the kids to Lattitude.

If everything failed, no ticket, no volunteering options I'd have to try another new festival but that week would be torture

My mind shies away from thinking about it quite firmly - I've usually got a lot to say and that's as much as I can muster!

There's no chance of me not getting a ticket, or that's what I've been telling myself! There's a large group of us which go pretty much every year, with a few extras who drift in and out of the group. Somehow there's always someone who can get through and help everyone out, so I've never missed out.

If it did happen though I'm pretty sure of what I'd do. Make plans for the Glastonbury weekend so my mind was occupied and then book a holiday/foreign festival instead. Primavera wouldn't be a bad substitute for Glastonbury I reckon.

This is the year...........We are normally 4 but, have convinced the floating voters that if we don't go we are never going.

Trying to explain the military exercise that is getting tickets to people who don't know is quite funny.

Register, Pass all details round, keep all lines of communication open, confirm you are all in position, open 48 windows, wait for 9:00 and pray.

Hope it works out.......we'll need 2 people in the slot at there is 8 of us.

Foo's - Fleetwood Mac - Daft Punk

It doesn't bear thinking about, it could be a gem of a year with Fleetwood mac and ACDC in the runnings but I plan to be touring the uk in a campervan from next spring onwards so will pull up somewhere nice and picturesque and do some fishing or somesuch to ease the pain.

I will be gutted but as the regular crowd I go with has now dwindled to just me & the other half I will book us an adventure (thinking Philippines/Bali) if the resale is unsuccessful too. It would probably only cost a few hundred more than what it costs us to attend Glastonbury.

Edit: plus Bestival was absolutely brilliant this year so will get tickets for that anyway. I loved it so much the line up won't matter.

Wouldn't mind a wee bit of advice from all of you informed and festival educated folk.

...

Could only really afford one, so which should it be if I blank on ticket day ?

Too difficult to say without knowing more of your likes tbh, they'd probably all suit depending on what you enjoyed

Grown up stuff may mean we may miss it this year, still trying for tickets though.

If unsuccessful then I reckon I'll be sanguine about it. Me & the missus have been half a dozen times now and, other than 2008, the years have coincided with arguably the biggest demand for tickets.

Can't get to all of them.

My backup options would be -

Green Man

Latitude

Bearded Theory

Download would be an option but that'd be me going alone!

I'd have to agree with frostypaw. If you don't mind not hearing big name music then I wouldn't rule out Shambala as a back up festival.

I can quite happily recommend both Latitude and Green Man with probably Latitude just edging it as there is a bit more going on there due it being twice the size, and in my case, a heck of a lot closer! I guess it all depends on what you are after and where you are in the country.

I'd like to go to Latitude, but as you say, it depends where you are traveling from. I could just about make it there in one go from Birmingham, but wouldn't fancy the journey back, even if broken up with an overnight stopover somewhere.

Having this year driven to Glastonbury, Green Man, 2000 Trees and ArcTanGent from Cambridge, all of which were a similar (if not slightly further) distance than that, I know what you mean!
