I've actually never seen Van, so I'm in the mibbes aye camp. How's his act in this day and age? Pipes in good working order?

Pretty good! He still sounds like Van anyway

I'm in the same boat. Know someone who is a huge fan who caught him at a Jazz Club in London and Albert Hall last year and said he was in great form both times but they've also seem him going through the motions as well. I get the impression the weaponry is still there but weather you get to hear it depends on how motivated he's feeling?

Seems to be yeah. He didn't seem particularly arsed at Glasto last time. But these days he sort of even chats to the crowd! :O

So if we are waiting on he who must not be named then doesn't he not like being announced before 6 weeks of the event? TBA poster with full one coming in May just like last year then

no, as with most things Prince related, this is a nonsense rumour that just gets repeated by people who have no idea if it's true or not.

Agreed.

I'll believe it's prince when he walks out on the pyramid on sunday night.

Still, my hopes are up a bit.

Round and round and round and round....

Anyone else losing interest a bit now? Last week was great! Excitement of paying the balance....real potential of getting an announcement....now.....nothing!

I can't be arsed.....wake me up in June

I'll keep checking though ;)

Bowie or Prince would be incredible. Either would be fine for me but I'd probably prefer Bowie because my friend coming with me is a huge fan and would be so happy.

That said, I would hate for it to be constantly compared to the 2000 show, which is considered by many to be the greatest set ever at the festival. There are bound to be comparisons made.

Just a question, if Prince were to be replaced by Florence (or another 'lesser' act for that matter), what happens to the money set aside for the Purple One? Obviously the bumped-up (from sub to headliner) replacement would get an increase in fee I guess, but does it leave an excess in funds? Maybe it goes to charity?

    • Another one from Sheffield DocFest this weekend, Earth Wind & Fire docu, directed by Questlove. Sensational archive footage, contributions from band members, family, plus a lot of very big fans (Stevie, Lionel, Flea, the Obamas) and a warts n all assessment of the genius / flawed human being that was Maurice White. Also, I never realised he started out as a jazz drummer with Ramsay Lewis. Well worth a watch.
    • In a 6,800-word Substack essay, external, the Clacton MP said "anti-white racism was embedded into the state", and that legislation aimed at equality was a form of "social cleansing"   .https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/articles/cdjkd4mp93zo   The privileged white c**t hasn’t got a clue what racism is.
    • BBC iPlayer: Will serve as the main hub for past sets, including both recent hits and iconic archival gems. You can explore the BBC iPlayer to watch curated compilations, "Best of Glastonbury" recaps, and on-demand replays of historic headline performances. [1, 2, 3] TV Broadcasts (BBC Two & BBC Three): The channels will air dedicated compilation shows. Leading up to the weekend, you can watch archive programming such as Glastonbury: 70s Legends, 80s Legends, and 90s Legends on BBC Two. [1] Radio & BBC Sounds: Pop-up Glastonbury radio stations on BBC Sounds will feature non-stop coverage, including exclusive mixes and huge sets from past years
