Yes, it's very real. Last time it was made up to look like a fracking station from the outside. I wandered past on Thursday and asked a guy "When do you open?" and he just looked at me blankly and said "Sorry, mate, we're just fracking here. It's not open to the public". Went back twice over the weekend though, and it was definitely what I thought it was.

No... but I'll DEFINITELY go this year (and to the Rabbit Hole, etc, etc).

Actually, in fairness I tried to go to the Rabbit Hole last year but it didn't seem to be open in the day. Is that correct or did I balls it up?

Ee found it on a couple of nights, but there was a queue to get in. Hung around for 15 minutes then left because the queue wasn't moving. It was at the top of Dragon Field, so if you head up to the Stone Circle, there is a big tree in front of you and to the left - to the left of that there is a small path which leads into the Dragon Field, which is where the Piano Bar (and the Stone Dragon) can be found

Like most 'secret' places they become a victim of their own mystique. They are great in the first year or two when they are genuinely secret, but when everyone knows about them they become a bit of a tourist attraction as the inevitable queues to get in, which detracts from it for me, Same goes for the Rabbit Hole for me. I couldn't be bothered to try and go in when they started putting railings up outside for you to queue at!

Hopefully there will be some more, new, secret places this year for us to stumble upon!

Not secret, is on the map on the guide

People who can't find it can't read basically

Exit Kings Meadow by the top left path over little bridge into Dragon Field, gasp at silly size of queue

This is definitely on my list of places to check out this year. Although in fairness, said list is stupidly long due to missing out on quite a lot of the areas at last year's festival.

I'm not sure if this is a stupid question, (usually preceding a question with a statement such as this indicates the affirmative) but is this always in a set location, or does it tend to move around from year to year?

I have never seen it on any map but I have an idea of where it is

For the past few years, always in a set location. I believe there was once an underground piano bar somewhere else, but that was at least ten years ago.

Here's a video charting its construction for Glastonbury 2009:

Know where it is but never been in because it's always shut when I'm in the vacinity (or is that just a ploy to keep me out)?

Think it doesn't open until midnight and by then I'm normally too settled or knackered to be bothered trying to get in.

The RH stage is open from lunchtime to dawn and is publicly programmed with a mixture of bands and DJs... The "not-so-secret-anymore" tunnel system opens between 10pm and dawn for all wonderland adventures. Expect queues these days as there is limited capacity within.

I walked up to it on the Wednesday to suss it out (It's quite easy to find - walk up to the stone circle, turn left and go between the gap in the trees) but it was only being built then

We went back, and got almost straight in, but it was early, it is OK but we only stayed 30 mins, worth doing once at least.

walked up last year to see what some of my mates were on about, and it was nice to spend some time in there, even if it was under an hour. as i would say something to tick off the list

Yeah went the last 2 years - never had to queue though. Last year we went on the Thursday and it was still being built, but then returned later on in the weekend and popped in for a bit.

  • 1 year later...

I might be being an idiot but........... is it actually underground?

It's a very sensible question, in reality it is only partially underground, sort of a big trench with a roof on.

It is good fun and worth going, plan carefully to avoid silly queues

    • Proper special gig tonight. They won't mean much to most people, but The Dogs D'Amour were one of the most significant bands of my youth.   Tyla, yer main man of said band, was playing in Birkenhead tonight. Not many there, but it was going fine. Then he decided he didn't like the smoke and the flashing lights so suggested moving the gig to the beer garden. Off we all went, and it was magical. Like having your favourite musician play in your garden. I absolutely loved it.   Before:     After:
