Bjork

Pretty random thread,

But listening to Bjork right now and remembering how beautiful her set at Bestival. Was right at the front for it and you couldn't hear a pin drop from the audience which was a very bizarre feeling seeing as it was a festival crowd.

Any chances of her playing Glastonbury next year?

Saw her in a small sports hall in iceland and she was mesmerising. Saw her headline a festival with people talking over it and it was less so. If she headlined the other again i'm not sure i'd go.

I'd love to see her play at Glastonbury again. I saw her play once for about 10 minutes but then all of my group of mates wanted to move on. I made the decision to move on with them rather than run the risk of not meeting up with them again that day. Also, I had a bit of the 'fear' and probably couldn't have stayed there on my own as the paranoia may have deepened.

  • 1 year later...

I've just downloaded the new Bjork album and it's as to be expected pretty " experimental" :) , a couple songs are pretty Verpertine esq , like Stone Milker and Lion song which are the first two tracks but then it goes into a mix of Volta and Biophillia, The last three tracks ,Atom Dance , Mouth mantra , and Quicksand would be great to see live. All in all not like the early days but i believe on first listening better than Biophillia IMO, which i couldn't get into. I need to listen with earphones though without any other disturbances.

Unless she was planning to surprise release it like Beyonce and My Bloody Valentine have done recently? Which doesn't seem particularly likely, MBV self-released theirs and had claim to have been sitting on it for a while, Beyonce had the multi-media gimmick to it, and she wanted to show how Queen Bey transcends marketing, because she is marketing in human form.

i'm guessing the leak was the actual album then and not just demos?

edit: and also, i've never really given Bjork too much of a listen but i'm loving this album so far. think i'll have to give her other stuff a listen after i've finished this

Obviously, since it's not released until March, there is no way that I have listened to the first couple of tracks of Björk's new record. So, there is also no way that I would know that they sound pretty blooming' good. So, there's no way that would make me even more excited about a potential GF2015 appearance. None of that could be the case. No way, Siree. Oh no. Similarly, there's no way that I could be in a position to listen to the rest of the record tomorrow. Just not possible. Nope.

Really? This does surprise me! Think you'll love her, try watching a few gigs back on You tube to get a full grasp, one at Cambridge, the Other at Shepherds Bush Empire, and Glastonbury 2007, and the other at the Sydney Opera house, Oh and also the video of " All is full of love" from a concert she did in New York to get the true majesty that is Bjork :)

    • Another one from Sheffield DocFest this weekend, Earth Wind & Fire docu, directed by Questlove. Sensational archive footage, contributions from band members, family, plus a lot of very big fans (Stevie, Lionel, Flea, the Obamas) and a warts n all assessment of the genius / flawed human being that was Maurice White. Also, I never realised he started out as a jazz drummer with Ramsay Lewis. Well worth a watch.
