I'm not going this year, missed out on T day but hopefully I will catch them at another festie but is TBC a bit over confident,I always thought ''R'' meant about 10% chance ''SR'' 50/50 with their name being banded about a lot and TBC as a self conformation or is that website gold?

You'd think Amsterdam Music Hall will have some kind of full press release over their plans, I'd say that's concrete

Thanks but I didn't actually find it personally, I literally read a forum like this where somebody had posted it. :P

They're doing a French festival - 'Festival Retro C Trop' - on Sunday. Probably still a good bet for Saturday though.

i'm sure it's friday now...

as Neil referenced it just now, I always use Pollstar religiously to check on gaps/dates/things Glasto-related...they're generally not too late in getting dates in and they've had the ZZ Top Euro dates listed for ages - http://www.pollstar.com/resultsArtist.aspx?ID=119&SearchBy=zz%20top

I didn't know about the Sunday gig, so if that's true (is it?) i'd say we can 95% say we have them for Friday then, as if they were doing Saturday that would make it the first of 4 days in a row, and 7 gigs in 8 days, unlikely, so I'd say Saturday is their day off...think about it, ZZ Top on the friday, lovely! w/ the saturday off, why not pull a Lady Ga-Ga and do a late night follow-up in the SE Corner, of course on the Hell Stage too...someone just tell them there's a stage by that name. i might be wrong, but i think at their Bonnarroo set (here) their set time was after the 'headliners' had finished up...can you imagine strolling by in the SE corner and this little video backdrop at the beginning pops up to announce the 'special guest'

yeah with Muse being on the Friday i'd say it was a good bet they'd put ZZ Top on that day as well, third or fourth on the Pyramid i imagine. this announcement has given me my first real jolt of Glastonbury excitement for this year :D especially with them playing being a long time coming

This is spot on for me. I haven't thought much about the festival since ticket day. Today's news has given me the buzz

hmm if not her then i'm sure it happened with somebody, because i remember the eventual crushing disappointment of realising whoever it was wasn't on the lineup

fuck it, ZZ Top are playing. pretty great for one of (if not the first?) self confirmations. i knew all our badgering would make it happen

The Tallest Man On Earth had a gig at Koko on the Tuesday before Glastonbury last year and I was convinced he was going to be on the lineup and was so gutted when he wasn't. He is playing RAH on the Tuesday before Glasto this year and I really hope that it doesn't happen 2 years in a row!

ah yeah that was definitely one of the omissions i was gutted about. would be a great addition to the Park so fingers crossed for that one

Still buzzing from this "announcement". Listened to the most recent album yesterday and this is a band that still sounds really strong. They'd be great on the pyramid, but a bluesy set at West Holts would blow my mind though.

I'd agree that the Motorhead slot on friday is most likely though, particularly if Muse are headlining that day.

Heineken Music Hall have removed the mention of glasto from that article. Hmmm.....

doesn't mean anything really, maybe Glasto didn't want them to steal their thunder so to speak and asked them to take down?

Yeah, they probably made a call once chatter on here and on FB filtered through. It'll be interesting to see if glasto announce it officially, though, now the news is 'out there' so to speak.

    • Another note, if I didn't mention the food in the arena for main stage is right at the back. Bands wise they do very well for but as a festival so far they pros are outweighed quite heavily currently for me.
    • On another note for RIP as an event, there is some good things but there are so many things people going to UK festivals would hate and how far behind they are.  Consistent network and water, beer and pretzel like food is brought around to buy in the crowds. Topping up on the wristband is good. The camping and food arrangement is not good, you really need cooking kit. Water points inside the arena are bonkers, water points in camping are a faff unless you are close enough in general camp. Merch stands are crazy. You MASSIVELY need to think about your lidl shop for camping and try and do it so you've one stop. It's definitely worth it getting to a camping shop here, picking up a rolley between your mates and stacking it for the walk back....lidl is cheap though, not hard getting in but Thursday queues getting in and into the camping is mad. You have to register first for a wristband as well leaving any bigger bags behind so pull to a side if only two and do it separately. I was joining a WhatsApp group for solo camp so went with the flow but I've learnt. Had it been me or just two my tent would have been down much quicker.  Big final note, I got a fresh and black 3 man from decathlon before coming and put in bigger suitcase with my airbed and sleeping bag...do this. Take a smaller option for your clothes. If you go to Munich first, book your train to Nuremberg as far in advance as you can....very important!....it hikes crazy. Probably bettee overall for baggage sizes to do BA both ways but you do then need to go back to Munich after too. Use the B&B hotel hbf the night before....its very nice, comfortable, cheap and within 10 minutes of the station which also serves as a transport stop 15 minutes from the registration.  Get up literally like 5am with everything back the night before, shower and go. Transport is free anyway for festival ticket holders during the duration.  Would I just choose to travel in each day and back to a hotel?, on the basis of sleep and getting accommodation cheap enough for 3 nights i might just do especially if I picked the ticket up early enough. It doesn't feel like a festival in a normal sense....unless you are in general yoi have to exit on the paths outside the camping to walk down and in which also applies for getting water so have a stock up. Toilets are in the camping.
