  4. I think I've finally come to terms with the fact that I can't go... I was successful on ticket weekend. I was the only one in our group of 18 that got through and managed to buy six tickets. Very exciting! I found out the same weekend that I was pregnant. Now, if it were 4 of 5 months, I would totally still go for it. From what I hear about being pregnant, 8 and a bit seems a bit of a stretch.... So now I'm planning a deck chair and projector in the garden, and inviting some mates and neighbours so I can at least watch some people get drunk. Despite the above, I am still hella excited for the poster drop!

  5. Huge part of the difference being that, even speaking as firmly not a Coldplay fan, they can be relied upon to play a big, joyous, crowd pleaser of a show in a way that the Arctics can't

  6. Ladies and Gentlemen, we have found the first person on planet earth who liked the first announcement. What award does he win? Joking! There were a few acts I liked, just not enough and, most importantly for a first announcement, there were many, many acts I hadn't heard of.

  7. The obsession with Slowdive playing this festival is absolutely bizarre. They've done some pretty wide reaching tours in the US/UK/Europe recently, plenty of opportunities to see them, will be better than on an outdoor stage at a festival too.

  10. They’d be mad not to book Coldplay. They’re basically the most reliable stadium fillers in the world. They aren’t even doing another UK gig this year let alone a festival. It’s 8 years since they last played (even putting aside how entitled the repeat booking complaints sound) and there will be thousands and thousands of people at Glastonbury in 2024 who weren’t there in 2016 or were there but went to something else (waves). They’ll fill the field, play all the hits and everyone will have a great time.

  13. Imagine having the biggest band in the world wanting to play your fest for free and being like 'nah it's ok, you headlined 8 years ago sorry!'

  14. That would be great, been a big fan, one of her warriors and weirdos since the first album. Last time she played in the JP was terrific.

  16. I really liked the first wave. I can understand the line-up feels cheap in terms of big names, but if we talk about music, I really like the vibe. I don't go to Sziget for the big names, I can understand most people do. Let's wait to see next one

  21. My bad, they're playing Chicago the week before, not Cardiff. So not in UK but she's over for BST after that and there's a gap

  23. I'm still not 100% on this. I've no real idea why. I think that by keeping it under wraps (more so than usual) this year means there must be a curveball incoming and whilst SZA would be a curveball, I'd expect something that would be more of a "wow" moment than a "who?" moment.

  26. She is aware that what she posts will be analysed to some degree - she generally doesn't take the piss much like say Liam Gallagher!

  27. That's moreso for the full late May / early June announcement with Stage Times. It's less of a thing ahead of dropping a first poster (as there's far fewer changes needed - literally just pasting up a single image).

  29. Yeah, I'd take that again this year!

  30. Primavera Sound 2024 without Slowdive would not make any sense to me. Since their comeback at Primavera Sound 2014, this band has become one of THE bands of the festival. Now, with a new record and around at the time, I can't image them not playing... It would be the 10 years birthday show since the comeback.

  34. Stop being weird. That was a quote from Josh, making light of their small crowd.

  35. Well, I'm extremely sceptical about the more than 6 headliners line. Firstly, I believe they are limited by city how long the festival will last, so that means we can't have 2 headliner slots per day. That means they would be spliting the slots which is fine if the headliners are crappy like they are and they do not actually have enough material for the whole slot. However, for a proper headliner, 45 minutes is way too little. Secondly, Skrillex is also suggested as a headliner next to Fred which means they could have sets together, but that is one headliner more than standard, not something ground breaking. As for 50% of lineup being announced. Yes, but most of the relevant acts have been anounced. We know 5 out of 6 heads and from the hints we expect Mo, Tom Odell, Editors, Raye and Skrillex together with Louis Tomlinson from the initial announcement and you have at least 4 subs in there. So, out of 12 relevant slots/acts we probably already know 9, maybe even more. The rest of the acts do not matter in the overall picture. I admire and like your optimism, but in general I feel like last few pages is a giant copefest. As Matt already mentioned, it speaks volumes that they are not marketing this as 30th anniversary, they are aware it would backfire with how poor the lineup is.

  38. Would be too small to justify the attempted cover-up. Plus it definitely doesn't say Slowdive and you can see pretty clearly the sequence of N-A-T-I-O (especially the N, A, T and O)

  39. LCD could be one of the most sparse crowds at the Pyramid in recent years? Their 2016 crowd at T in the Park was shocking.

  45. Echo & the Bunnymen tonight at Gloucester Guildhall. 8th time I've seen them & it will definitely be the last! Played for 25 minutes, then f**ked off for 20 minutes. Eventually came back on & Mac mumbled incoherently for 5 minutes between each song. When they actually played they were alright. Shame as they used to be one of the best live bands around.
