Thursday headliner? Would certainly tick the “poppier” box some people are expecting

Apparently Mumford & Sons are announcing tomorrow too so I actually think there might be something in that leak (even if it’s just them as a headliner)

I’m so afraid they’ll be the last headliner.

I don’t mind them tbf (inoffensive) and my mate wants them so that’s good enough for me.

More excited to see that undercard and I want to believe the leak as it has Lorde, Vampire Weekend and Kasabian

Why would what your mate wants be a good enough for you?, you want bands for you, its your money, not for others.

Because I like my mates to be happy and have a good time.  I’ve seen everyone I need to and my money will be spent knowing we’ll all have a good time away from our stressful lives, that’s it.

This is no doubt 99% wrong but thought I’d post it anyway.  Someone come on festileaks and said the Thursday lineup is:

Mumford & Sons, Lorde, The Lumineers, Vampire Weekend, Zwangere Guy, Kasabian, Young Yello

It’s a talking point if nothing else

I can buy Kasabian given that they have a big solo show at Finsbury Park in London on Werchter Saturday. So makes sense they might be available for something that can be followed by a quick hop over the Channel after.

I can assume that they're not popping over to Europe to just do BST but depends on whether they're an act who do back-to-back shows like this or have the logistics to do Belgium and England back-to-back.

Yeah similar to Fontaines last year, although I really didn’t expect to see them (or VW) that low.  So makes me sceptical.  Everyone is about so could be just one of them internet guesses to get people talking

Just a reminder of the above please could users return to the discussion about the festival in question . Negativity is not a rule breach . But obviously we’d much prefer positive engagement from everyone any issues I’m available to take any dms . Thanks

Lots of discussion over headliners that'll probably get resolved tomorrow one way or the other.

To move things on a bit, does anyone have any particular hopes and dreams for the undercard, for acts getting big slots in the Barn or anything like that?

Personally I'd love to see Matt Berninger play indoors at the Barn or Klub C after the NOS announcement. A Hayley Williams and David Byrne combination high up in the Barn would also be high up on my wishlist.

Hoping for English Teacher to make a return after last year's cancellation after I haven't seen them yet. As a big punk and hardcore fan, I'd also love to take some of the nearby names from Outbreak/Jera/2000 Trees for the Slope. I think Pup, Basement and the Dirty Nil could all be accessible enough and go down well.

As always hoping for my favourite band Modest Mouse to come back to Europe too. They've been treating the US to some great album in full anniversary shows that I've been very jealous of. Recent tour mates The Flaming Lips have announced European dates at InMusic so I wouldn't mind both of them turning up on a festival run.

I mean, they seem in a strange place at present. Certainly I seem to recall them subbing for Muse in 2015 but acts don't necessarily stay in that position forever - Franz Ferdinand, for instance, headlined the second stage at Glastonbury in 2009 but were happy enough booking an afternoon slot on that same stage this year.

Either that or maybe Kasabian as a second stage headliner? If it isn't already sewn up for somebody else.

For me, there’s a load of Festival type bands I’d love to see, Biffy Clyro would be great but apparently them and Belguim have an issue! The mentioned Vampire Weekend would be nice in the sun, Kasabian have the big festival tunes and Wolf Alice would be good to see again.  A couple of newer type acts on the slope like Getdown Services and Anthony Szmierek would be lovely too

Modest Mouse would be awesome.

Personally, I'd love to get Blood Orange from Coachella and Rex Orange County from All Points East. Both are on my watch list

Mumford have dissapointed me way too many times, so I kind of mind them. Dreadfully dull live act.

Also don’t care much for Kasabian but VW and Lorde would be two great additions for me that don’t play RW too often. And Lorde - The XX - Gorillaz - The Cure would mean a great ‘headliner’ for me every day.

There are certainly some very good names doing the rounds so hopefully plenty fall here.  Over the next 2 weeks we should know another 15 anyway so that’s exciting

The headliners tend to help when purchasing a ticket, especially these days, when everything seems to be more expensive. But when I'm there, 1/4 or 2/4 seem memorable; it always seems like a complete mixed bag, whether the headliners live up to expectations. I've learnt, 0 expectation for the main acts and just enjoy the day. It's a 4-day holiday where I'm drinking beer, maybe springing up conversations with randoms, hopefully enjoying the weather, and more importantly not working

I can see that happening in the Beth Gibbons slot from this year.

The National was the only headliner I saw at Sziget 2019, was absolutely fantastic.

Im usually knackered or drunk by the time the headliners come on. 😂

It varies for me. I purchased tickets for Primavera because of the headliners, but purchased Sziget tickets for next year without a band being announced. Primavera was the last 1 on my bucket list of festivals, so 2026 landed perfectly.

Although werchter by tradition will be solid through the line up. Thats what it does well, long may it continue.

very well said. not that you need to explain yourself. having fun with friends is a great way to spend your time just as much as posting 6,000 messages on a message board is for others.
