Primavera Sound 2026

the shows in Madrid are in a 17K arena, it's quite small for Radiohead, especially after such long break.

so 4 shows will sell out, I don't see how this prevent them from booking them 7 months later in Barcelona

That's fair.

I really do hope they're at primavera. I think in primaveras realistic scope (like ruling out acts such as Oasis/Swift etc) Radiohead and Doechii seem like the two big names next year that we know of so far.

How likely do we feel this is now? I'm really trying to manage my expectations but it fits so perfectly, I have to think the festival threw everything at them to make it happen.

I'm going to try my best to get tickets for 1 of those Madrid dates but it's 68k available tickets and god knows how many people trying to get them.

I think >75% likely as:

- the same rumours that said a tour was going to be announced now also made reference quite specifically to Primavera (and were presented quite matter-of-factly)

- Primavera Sound has pulling power and of all the festivals in Spain, Primavera is the best fit.

- Their message today hints at a bigger tour next year

Did you get a different message to me?

It reads as the opposite to a bigger tour. More like, we'll give this a try and see how it feels, literally "for now, it will just be these ones ..."

On the basis of that, either Phillip is lying or there is no way that they already have festival dates booked for next year.

I read it as 'we're definitely not doing any more gigs this year, so you should definitely buy tickets for these ones'

The user that posted they were doing american and european festivals in 2026 (Primavera included) is not the same as the one that first “leaked” the november tour thing. It was two different users in the same reddit thread. The one that did mention Primavera also said that they were playing in Paris in November. So, I would take this “second leaker” with a grain of salt.

It could still happen obv

Would downgrade Ethel Cain, Smerz and YHWH Nailgun to the unlikely category... all of them have dates in Barcelona this fall so would be strange to see, at least all three in primavera 2026

You can keep them all except for Lorde and The Cure lol. I don't think Primavera now get both The Cure and Radiohead. They are getting one act currently that could headline major other festivals and two that are sub/second stage headliners in comparison. I had The Cure down for this but I think it's unlikely now.

Focusing on small and elusive names, and knowing the full lineup of the Unsound Festival (one of the most important advanced, electronic and alternative music festivals in Europe, from which Primavera Sound always draws inspiration), I would add as possible names: Abdullah Miniawy, billy woods, Caroline, Joan La Barbara, KAVARI and Moin, or any of the groups or projects that Valentina Magaletti is part of.

Straight from Radioheads official site, surely this rules them out.

Nope, it confirms there current tour is all of it. They band hoping to do more elsewhere in the future certainly doesn't rule them out. 9 months time would definitely be the future. They have tickets to sell so they aren't going to admit now they'll be playing a summer festival that's easy to get tickets to.

Just a quick thought: do you think Radiohead’s stance on the genocide could become a show-stopper for Primavera when considering booking them?

From what I saw this year, most bands performing had a strong pro-Palestine position. At the same time, I also heard that during Haim’s show there were some minor incidents, with someone being shut down for displaying a Palestinian flag.

I don’t really think the stakeholders want to risk turning the festival into a political battleground — especially at a time like this, when nobody with serious money on the line is willing to take a clear position. Still, I feel that if the (hypothetical) choice came down to The Cure vs. Radiohead, The Cure would likely draw less controversy, while still adding major value to the lineup and retaining strong critical acclaim.

Zero chance of this. It's not like Radiohead are going to be draped in Israeli flags.

My read too.

Also it's classic English understatedness. In same way you might say 'I may have had one or two drinks last night' when everyone saw you completely wasted and staggering all over the place.

Imagine a large tour next year is planned.

Indeed, and with them doing arena shows in places now, I can see it being a mix of Arena and festivals.

I wouldn't be surprised to see Primavera kick their tour off, but that will be the biggest one they get and its maybe broadly bigger than anyone this year apart from potentially Sabrina.
