I see System of a Down with support from Queens of the Stone Age announced a European tour next year , No Spanish dates

But the tour doesn't start till the end of June.

Not normally the type of band they usually book . But who knows now after Calvin Harris and Ghost

No chance SOAD are playing primavera

Agree on Calvin Harris being a mad booking but Ghost have more crossover appeal.

SOAD will never play Primavera unless the festival fundamentally changes.

Deftones could possibly be back as they're touring Europe in February into March and then to South America for a few festivals. Mordor slot this time

Anyway after Maneskin who knows, maybe we will indeed see SOAD

Maneskin and Ghost were not headliners and I also think Calvin Harris has more crossover with the crowd Primavera tried to appeal to in the last years (young pop fans) than SOAD.

Yes but you know what I mean. The point is there has been plenty of acts that are "not Primavera". Central Cee this year too

I'm sure SOAD will not be on the cartel but people will always speculate when a big band is active during festival season

Central Cee also played in 2023.

PS2023 was an oddball year because they were trying to compete with Mad Cool as well, so got a few more names that would have ended up at mad cool, like Calvin Harris, Maneskin, Halsey.

The thing with SOAD is they are also likely a fortune to book, so it's a bit of a high risk if it doesn't pay off whereas you could probably get someone like Radiohead/The Cure for cheaper and fit more in the alternative bucket for primavera.

I think there's some (in my opinion cringey) legacy stuff like Limp Bizkit and SOAD that will never play. Ditto rock/indie bands like Stereophonics and Kaiser Chiefs.

There have been a couple of outliers in recent years it's true. I put the Calvin Harris, Maneskin and Central Cee bookings down to appealing to young people, which I don't those other names above do as much.

To stop speculations, SOAD will not tour before Stockholm and after Warsaw they will have one more gig, a special event, probably in Armenia.

Yeah I'd agree with this. I think Primavera also consciously don't book those acts because they commonly make up the European festival circuit - and Primavera normally try and push themselves to be ahead of the curve or book more uncommon acts.

Just thought about something - Radiohead and Nick Cave and the Bad Seeds have been both rumoured to play Primavera next year. In that case, would Colin Greenwood do both shows or would NCATBS have another bass player?

I don't see how he can do a lot of dates for both acts. Radiohead as priority surely or more likely the tours won't overlap too much.

Radiohead cheaper? Heard they're about as expensive as the Foo Fighters, but that was years ago. Right now they're one of the most in-demanded acts worldwide. I wouldn't count on them being cheaper than SOAD...

Given the fact SOAD are charging £160 for the cheapest standing ticket at Spurs I feel their asking fee is probably a lot. I'm not saying Radiohead are cheap by any means. Even if they were the same price then my point still stands.

Where is the 160 from?

Gorillaz might be back on the table - they just announced a London date for 20th June.

If it takes them away from Werchter by all means.

    • It was awful during Father John Misty and I was close to the front. People just shouting and laughing their f-ing heads off about nothing in particular and being louder than the bloody stage.
    • Other things I noted yesterday, away from the obvious…   Positives: - an extra water point towards the back left of the main stages has appeared, which I believe is new for this year (and was much needed) - handing out free ponchos was a good touch  - caroline were fantastic. I’d never been in the Auditori Rockdelux before, it’s a wonderful venue and a great venue if you fancy a more chilled out environment  Negatives: - the talkers. I know it’s always bad here (and most festivals nowadays) but f**k me people wouldn’t shut up yesterday. I wonder if it was partly as a result of people being at artists they had little interest in (due to rain limiting their options), although it wasn’t great during blood orange. We’ll be making an effort to get a spot nearer the front for anyone we particularly care about over the weekend  - not enough staff around (and the ones that are there are largely useless). Most other festivals have them everywhere and are happy to help
