This is exactly the childish black or white way of looking into it I'm talking about- Army is always bad, you can never support the army, not even when it fights a terror organization and trying to free a village with children kept hostages in (yes, this is what the first few days following 7/10 looked like).

Was it wrong to fight the Nazi's with an army too? The Ukraine army fighting the Russians is also bad?

yes, there were terrible things done by the Israeli army afterwards, believe me I oppose them more than you, I spent several hours in 4 anti-war rallies just this week. but grow up and understand it's not sheer black and white.

and the fact that there are no artists playing for Hamas - do your homework about that terror organization, see what they've done to Israelies and also to the citizens of Gaza, maybe you'll understand

Honestly, I think you're just missing the point and I don't think this is the appropiate place to discuss (or legitimate) any war, not even the WWII. I'm sure that you have your opinion and you're doing your best supporting those anti war rallies, don't take it personally. I have a friend in Israel too, but that's not the point. I think we should focus the conversation about bands coming or not coming for any circumstance and not delve deeper into whether that circumstance has one justification or another. I just mentioned the Dudu Tassa case just to show that the audience asked the boycott to that act for that reason (which is a fact) while still wanted to see The Smile, just meaning that probably most people won't boycott Radiohead. The reasons why Dudu thought it was a good idea to go and cheer that army I think that are outside the current discussion and I don't feel this is the right place to go on posting about the grey scales of this conflict (no one said it was just black or white btw), so for my part I will limit my messages to topics concerning this thread. I already have another spaces where to discuss other issues.

I'd be more than happy going back to predicting the lineup... Portishead reunion then? 🫠

you really really don't understand the situation in Israel in the past 2 years.

The war is sh*tty, the Israeli government is sh*tty, most people in Israel wants it to end much more than some trend-chasing festival goers who enjoy chanting 'from the river to the sea' without knowing which river and which sea is it.

And boycotting a band just because they oppose the war in a bit different way than the crowd or because their friend is just being silly

Ah hello Thom. Really though this is such a lazy ignorant take and besides the point which is that the booking will create the potential for a situation of the band being faced with such festival goers. The question then is whether band or festival want to be in that position.

I will leave the topic there except that the festival's own foundation talks about  silence and the resulting complicity in respect to genocide. So I would expect that at least internally there would be some heated discussion around booking Radiohead given the debate around them (whether anyone agrees with the debate is again not really the point).

wonder if we would get Doja Cat, Radiohead and NIN from this list

Would hate it if primavera got Travis. Not that bothered about Doja either but Travis' fans are absolutely awful.

Yes, all their stupid 'rage' shenanigans where they smash sh*t up and are just generally annoying.

Obviously, it isn't exclusive to Travis fans only - and not ALL of them but yeah. Also aside from that his music is incredibly boring and has been for some time.

On the surface of it, the pool of potential headliners this year easily looks the strongest in years. I don't remember any recent pre-festival discussions that had this many huge and Primavera friendly headliners touring or teasing tours. Plus there are always a couple of surprises, and it's only August! I'm feeling very confident this will be a really strong lineup.

I'm trying not to get my hopes up too much for Radiohead specifically though because they're probably my favourite band of all time and I've been waiting 10 years for a tour. Better to lower expectations, although easier said than done.

Radiohead/Doechii/Tame Impala/Tyler, The Creator/Lorde

Weds headliner: King Gizzard

My two cents as a huge KGLW fan: they were supposed to play three shows at this year’s Bonnaroo, but the festival got cancelled due to weather. It would make so much sense for them to play Primavera (maybe even more than one set again?) and then head to Bonnaroo. Fingers crossed!

Hate to kill this immediately but Swans are playing their last ever dates this autumn. Gira is killing the project at least for a while and permanently in its current form.

Ethel Cain is already playing Barcelona this fall, it could rule her out.

Mediocre reviews from Travis at Leeds and he finished 40 minutes early - let's hope he isn't at primavera next year.

He's known to arrive late and/or leave early. I like his music (early stuff - Rodeo and Astroworld particularly) and I would go to the set if he's booked but I agree, those kind of antics put me off. Plus, there seem to be so many strong headliner candidates that I can see them avoiding him.

Plus, Hip-hop wise there are a lot of better potential bookings like ASAP Rocky, Tyler, Little Simz, JID, Doechii, Kneecap, Billy Woods etc. I think they'll skip Travis.

We should be hearing some Radiohead news in two and a half weeks if the latest Reddit mumble has any truth in it and the state of Israel has been the responsible for the ongoing genocide since 1947 and it should have ceased to exist decades ago.

I feel like Radiohead will be too big, expensive for this festival. I know Primavera has succeeded in booking them a decade ago, but I feel the hype for them will be so much bigger when they decide to come back.

For some reason they became much more popular on streaming services too. Their Spotify monthly listeners went from 28mil to 40mil (!) in about 3 months. Let Down has just entered the Billboard Hot 100.

But we can always dream of course.

They just booked Sabrina Carpenter and Chappell Roan, both won't have been cheap. So I think Radiohead is still perfectly in their grasp.

exactly, they booked the hottest names this year, and can do it next year.

and the recent tiktok explosion of Let Down can only help - it's not only vintage Primavera indie booking, it is a band that appeals to younger crowd as well and will sell great

    • Tonight was a disgrace. There wasn't *that* much rain, and it wasn’t *that* windy. A festival of this size should be able to withstand some adverse weather without it bringing the whole circus to a standstill. And if it is true that part of a speaker on the Revolut stage fell…   As for the communication - announcing Massive Attack were playing at 12:30 and then nothing for over an hour while people waited in the rain. It’s laughable it really is.   If I said I’ll never come back again I’d be lying. The shambles of Barcelona 2022 and the disgrace of Madrid 2023 didn’t stop me, so this probably won’t either.   This festival gets so much wrong, but it is always saved by having such killer line-ups. It’s just a shame it treats the fans/customers/consumers like animals. Compare it to somewhere like Glastonbury and it’s worlds apart.
    • Yeah, I admit that a small part of me felt relieved when they announced that MA are canceled.. But on the positive side- got to see Florence Road afterall, and they were great
    • Glad I could take the €3 bus to Playa Catalunya! Hope y'all warm and dry up.
