With the teasing for new music from Tame Impala now. It's a no brainer that he will headline next year.

I agree, Tame Impala and Lorde feel very likely at this point

I skipped Deftones to see Pulp in 2024. I don't regret it because Pulp were amazing but it was my biggest clash so I'd be very happy to see Deftones rebooked.

In before they pair Deftones and Pulp up again

Tyler The Creator? 2 albums now since his last Primavera. I could see a scaled down Chromakopia/Don't Tap the Glass, festival-friendly tour rolled out next year. Kendrick Lamar did this when he headlined the year after a very long world tour.

Would gladly have Tyler, was a shame he wasn't there this year.

Obviously speculative at this point but say we do have Tame, Lorde and Tyler, it is looking VERY similar to 2022. I hope we get some curveball that differentiates the top line a bit. I don't think we'll get one of The Cure/Radiohead if I'm being realistic but that'd be a good sweetener for me.

Gorillaz will also be touring again, but that would make it way to similar to 2022 I guess

Yeah, again I wouldn't necessarily mind them but it does feel a bit too much like a repeat. Granted it was four years ago now.

Think the festival is an interesting place in terms of headliners next year.

I don't think we'll have Gorillaz headlining next edition. I love them but they're coming in september to Madrid to a minor fest and maybe I'm wrong but my feelings are that the PS is not really interested in them and maybe they came due to a double deal with Damon (Gorillaz 2022 + Blur 2023). I've seem Damon's bands doing that kind of bookings before in other fests like BBK Live (Gorillaz '18 + TGTB&TQ '19).

Furthermore, next year there will be overbooking for Primavera-friendly headliners, and I'm afraid there's no room for all of them, so some of them will have to be excluded. There is Tame Impala who have teased a new album and have been in the fest in 2016-16-19-22 and that dj thing in 2025 (Can't do it without you award for the next edition if they come I guess). Lorde is also there with her new album (PS18 and 22) and the words of one of the directors saying she's an artist they'd always try to bring if she tours. Also Rosalía who is teasing R4 and is as well attached to the fest (PS17, 19 and 23), and recently, last issue of Rockdelux magazine (now owned by Primavera and given to some of us for free during the festival) named her #1 and #2 in the list of Spanish best albums of the 21st Century. But also The XX members stated that they were recording a new album, if the released it in the first half of 2026, they are another Primavera regulars (PS10, 12, 17) that could be there (not sure if headliner status though, at least alone). Then we also have Tyler, The Creator (PS18, 22x2), who skipped 2025 edition and now has two albums to tour in Spain...

And the list goes on... Radiohead creating a new company for a new tour, My Bloody Valentine active again, Pulp's new album, the every-year awaited The Cure, Nine Inch Nails, etc... but being realistic, no more than 3, maybe 4 of those names could come next year, and maybe less (last year we thought the headline could be Lorde, Tyler, Nick Cave, NIN, FKA Twigs and Chappell, and only FKA and Chappel came from that list.

Yeah, great summary.

I think out of a Radiohead/NIN/The Cure/MBV booking we'll only ever get one a year, and I think out of those it'd be MBV i'd put money on. Mainly because they're smaller and cheaper to book than the others.

I still think Kali Uchis has a chance of headlining too, since she's now a big name in Spanish speaking areas. Maybe even an exclusive booking.

And of course, there's also the Halsey/Calvin Harris/Maneskin/Sabrina Carpenter type curveballs. Wonder what that could be for 2026.

Also, no way MBV is getting booked given the current outdoor decibel limits at the festival.

Never had an issue personally

It's an objective fact that the volume cannot be too loud at certain stages due to NIMBYism. This didn't seem to be the case back in 2013 when MBV last played. We also know that MBV demands it loud. So would they really go for PS again, or any other outdoor festival for that matter?

I never denied that volumes have to reach certain limits due to council limits. But I personally don't find the sound particularly quiet at primavera, especially compared to other festivals. On MBV playing outdoor events - they've played loads of outdoor festivals in their time, I assume they played outdoors at Roskilde/Fuji Rock back in 2018. I don't think it would really be a problem to them honestly.

I caught Charli at both PS and Glasto this year, and the sound at Other Stage was so much better. Hell, even comparing Jamie xx at Mordor to Charli right afterwards, there was a noticeable drop in volume. I wear custom fitted earplugs with a 15db filter by default, and at PS I almost always need to resort to a different set of ear plugs with less protection in order to feel properly immersed. As much as I love PS, the lower sound volume across various stages (some way more than others) does mean having to pick your spots wisely unless you want to be overwhelmed by yappers in the crowd.

Fair point about MBV's 2018 festivalshows, but Roskilde has a reputation for excellent sound and I bet Fuji Rock was also able to accommodate them given the live music culture over in Japan.

That aside, in prior years, there's been fallout from festivals booking MBV. Per the screenshot below, Coachella 2009 couldn't program anything else at two other stages so that there wouldn't be soundbleed from the loud volume.

coachella09-sun.jpg

In addition, MBV playing Pukkelpop 2009 caused huge public outcry about sound limits to the point that laws were passed, even for indoor venues in Belgium. The below projection at their subsequent show in that country in 2013 reflected this.

I'd love to actually hear from someone who saw MBV at PS 2013 in terms of what it was like.

I saw MBV loads of times in the late 80s/early 90s, and they were my favourite band at the time. I didn't see them at PS 2013, but did see them at an indoor venue that year. In my opinion, they've replaced any energy they had with an obsession of being loud, and it hugely diminishes them as a live act.

The rest of the band looked bored as Kevin spent so much time getting ready between songs - which is sad considering Colm was the absolute ferocious heart of the band in their prime. They'd have been much better turning down the decibels, dumping the huge gaps between songs, and playing as if they music actually excited them.

According to an Italian newspaper, Nick Cave (Bad Seeds or Grinderman?) and Gorillaz will be on tour next year.

    • Tonight was a disgrace. There wasn't *that* much rain, and it wasn’t *that* windy. A festival of this size should be able to withstand some adverse weather without it bringing the whole circus to a standstill. And if it is true that part of a speaker on the Revolut stage fell…   As for the communication - announcing Massive Attack were playing at 12:30 and then nothing for over an hour while people waited in the rain. It’s laughable it really is.   If I said I’ll never come back again I’d be lying. The shambles of Barcelona 2022 and the disgrace of Madrid 2023 didn’t stop me, so this probably won’t either.   This festival gets so much wrong, but it is always saved by having such killer line-ups. It’s just a shame it treats the fans/customers/consumers like animals. Compare it to somewhere like Glastonbury and it’s worlds apart.
